Final Fantasy XV Celebrates the Holidays

Final Fantasy XV

Square Enix has announced its first DLC packs for Final Fantasy XV, set to arrive on December 22, 2016. The update will have two versions, one a free option and the other a premium one, which will only be available to those who have purchased the Season Pass or Digital Deluxe Edition.

The free pack available to all, titled the "Holiday Pack", will come with several accessories that can be used during the game:

  • Warrior's Fanfare - A scroll of sheet music that provides additional AP for receiving an A+ in Offense in combat outside of training.
  • Nixperience Band - An armband that prevents the gaining of experience.
  • Choco-Mog Tee - Available in late January 2017, this is a cosmetic shirt featuring chocobos and moogles.
  • Carnival Passport - A ticket that will provide access to a limited time event called the Moogle Chocobo Carnival.

The Carnival Passport will also be available to owners of the premium pack, titled the "Holiday Pack +". The carnival will take place in January 2017. The premium pack will come with its own seperate list of items:

  • Ring of Resistance - A protective item that grants resistance to magical friendly fire.
  • Tech Turbocharger - A piece of Noctis equipment that accelerates the Tech bar but halts the Armiger bar.
  • Armiger Accelerator - The inverse of the Tech Turbocharger, accelerates the Armiger bar and halts the Tech bar.
  • Blitzer's Fanfare - A scroll of sheet music that provides additional AP for receiving an A+ in Time in combat outside of training.
  • Tactician's Fanfare - A scroll of sheet music that provides additional AP for receiving an A+ in Finesse in combat outside of training.
  • Key of Prosperity - A lucky charm that increases rare item drop rates from enemies.
  • Stamina Badge – A device that enables Noctis to sprint and hang without expending stamina.
  • Festive Ensemble – Available in late January, this is a cosmetic outfit perfectly suited for enjoying the festivities.

Since the two packs have mostly seperate items, those entitled to the Holiday Pack + will have to download the free one seperately to receive all the items.

Along with the two Holiday Packs, a content patch will arrive at the same time that will add both a New Game+ option after completing the game and themed photo frames for the many pictures Prompto takes throughout the game. Season Pass owners will receive additional exclusive frames.

Final Fantasy XV released earlier this year for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The Season Pass can be purchased for $24.99. For those who wish to learn more about the game, Michael Cunningham's review of the game can be found here.
