Skeletons of Scarwall takes the player characters to the location of the one item capable of stopping their nemesis from destroying their hometown. Hundreds of years before, a band of adventurers braved the stronghold of Kazavon, the Castle Scarwall, and defeated the tyrant, but even in death his body still quivered with hatred and threatened to be reborn. The site became cursed, and legions of undead now wander its halls.

Into this festering brew of evil the player characters must go in order to find the blade Serithtial in order to save Korvosa from the evil influence of Kazavon. Fortunately, unlikely allies await the player characters, and they will need every bit of help in order to make it through the castle alive. Scarwall features a new type of trap, the haunt, that will be familiar to players of other Pathfinder Chronicles products. These traps help to give the sinister castle an appropriately dark and dreadful atmosphere for a location with its reputation.

This adventure is quite deadly, to the point that it is very likely the whole party will be wiped out. However, at this point in the Curse of the Crimson Throne adventure path the players should be well prepared and anticipating such situations.

This chapter also includes an article on the church of Zon-Kuthon, the god of darkness, envy and pain, who plays a significant role in the Curse of the Crimson Throne adventure path. It also provides information on the Hold of Belkzen, now under the control of the orc hordes, and keeping up with the orc theme, Eando Kline's adventures continue in the orc lands as well.

This issue's bestiary provides additional information on monsters featured in the adventure, including the Danse Macabre and the Chained Spirit, as well as a new dragon, the Umbral Dragon. It also includes a random encounter chart for use in the lands around Scarwall.

Skeletons of Scarwall features the nastiest, strongest and most devious traps and monsters thrown at the players' characters in the Curse of the Crimson Throne adventure path yet. It stands to reason that as the players' characters get stronger, their opponents should get stronger as well, but it seems like the deck has been unfairly stacked against them. Player character deaths could mount quickly in this chapter, and Game Masters should be prepared for players to become frustrated at the difficulty of Scarwall.
