Everything Old is News Again

Scott "Fowl Sorcerous" Wachter

In the past few days it seems everyone has decided to announce new things, and this means it's time for another installment of Saving Throw News Round-up.

Starting off with something entirely new is Warhammer: Only War. This is the newest addition to the Warhammer 40, 000 RPG line and is now in open beta. The text is available from Drive Thru RPG. Unlike other beta tests, this one is not free. The PDF costs $20, but includes a code that will give a $20 discount on the final PDF release of the game. Only War focuses on the Imperium's ground troops and rules for playing in larger engagements.

A few months ago, Wizards of the Coast released a premium re-print of the core AD&D manuals. Those same wizards are following that release up with a premium re-print of Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 this September. The books will feature new covers and incorporate that edition's extensive errata. Get all the details from WotC's website.

Speaking of 3.5 reprints, Paizo has begun previewing the Pathfinder Bestiary Box. The box will include over three hundred cardboard tokens with plastic bases. Some monsters will have new art compared to the original Bestiary to better accommodate the token format. The box will see release in early August.

Classic fantasy RPG Rolemaster is celebrating its thirtieth anniversary with a new edition. The new version will bring together the best of all previous editions of Rolemaster as well as new enhancements. This new version will be modular with everything from the previous versions of the game, letting players and gamemasters drop in favourite subsystems and game material. All older material will be rebranded and returned to print via print-on-demand. The new material will launch with five new books covering combat, magic, characters, creatures and loot, to be followed later with books for campaign building, the Shadow World setting and new adventures. No word yet as to when this new edition will be released, but you can find all the details on the Iron Crown Enterprises homepage.
