FFXII, Mana goodness, Demo games, and WiiTP
!
!

Liv: How do you think FFXII will do over here? I forget when it's being released...

Jerry: I think it'll sell like hotcakes, because A: it's different, and B: it's Final Fantasy, which is amusing.

Donovan: I'm afraid so.

Matt: I think so too

Jesus: It'll sell like hotcakes, and fanboys will complain about it for years.

Jesus: Like every other post-VI FF.

Jerry: Yes.

Kyle: Did anyone play the FFXII demo?

Matt: Yes - the demo was disappointing, the one I played, anyway.

Kyle: I hated the battle system.

Matt: Believe it or not, by the end of Day Two, there were almost no lineups whatsoever for FFXII at all.

Jesus: Really?

Donovan: Wow. O_o

Gabriel: Well, I need the final game to decide.

Matt: There were several empty stations that I walked by more than once.

Matt: Yeah, me too. I can't pass judgment yet, but I walked through the demo.

Jesus: That's not a good sign. * XeroZohar didn't play that... but also didn't know there weren't any lines. ;_;

Matt: I could have gotten through it without pressing a single button other than the control stick.

Kyle: My expectations aren't very high for FF12.

Jesus: I'm not going to either, but noninteractive battles don't sound good.

Jerry: I still call it an overpowered demo, and will wait for the full game.

Matt: I think so too, though I hate to be disappointed by demo after demo.

Kyle: It's a shame.. but Famitsu gave it a perfect score.

Jesus: Famitsu gave a great score to DQ7.

Jesus: I don't hold much stock in their opinion.

Kyle: I haven't played a DQ game yet.

Gabriel: I rarely belive reviews anyway.

Matt: I'm only holding hopes that a few good reviews are reliable, and what?!

Matt: GO PLAY!! :P

Jesus: 8 is awesome, but stay far away from 7.

Kyle: Lol, I'm broke at the moment.

Matt: ^^;; 7 wasn't all bad.

Jesus: Yes, yes it was.

Donovan: 8 just had a price drop.

Matt: But anyway, I know a good many fans of the game.

Matt: Besides, DQ7 is definitely not up for debate here :P

Jesus: Plodding, boring, uninteresting characters, dated gameplay...

Jerry: What were we talking about again? Oh, FFXII.

Kyle: Was the demo for DQ8 crappy compared to the game? 'Cuz the demo I played wasn't anything special for me.

Donovan: I didn't like the DQ8 demo, but I loved the game.

Matt: Hmmm... I thought the demo was a bit simplistic, yeah, because you don't have time to get into any of the skill system, etc.

Kyle: Ahh I see.

Kyle: I didn't even know there were voices either.

Kyle: That was a letdown.

Jesus: And I'm sure ET has its fans too.

Gabriel: ET for atari?

Jesus: :)

Gabriel: Atari ET: The grand daddy of horrid movie license games.

Matt: Anyway... E3!

Matt: XII seems very chaotic to me.

Jesus: That's the impression.

Gabriel: I like Chaos.

Kyle: Oh! In the FF12 demo... any English voices?

Matt: Like, you can try manipulating character actions, but all you see is this LSJG:WEIJGWE...

Jesus: There's always a but.

Matt: And then enemy the enemy is defeated.

Jesus: Okay...

Jesus: That made no sense to me.

Matt: Hahaha.

Jerry: Overpowered...must be.

Matt: Well, your allies just leap in and do everything immediately, and it's very difficult to follow battles.

Jesus: That's hardly an excuse.

Jesus: Even with that old FF8 demo, I had to do stuff.

Jerry: Darn you E3 demos with your overpoweredness! *shakes fist*

Kyle: I'm assuming the FF12 demo had no English voices, lol.

Matt: I didn't have any voices in my demo, sorry.

Kyle: Wow.

Kyle: I bet it was too loud anyways.

Matt: Yeah, it was extremely difficult to hear anything in there.

Jerry: Very VERY loud.

Jesus: Too close to NCSoft's booth? :P

Jerry: Hahahaha.

Kyle: They should put headphones at the demo places.

Matt: Heh heh.

Matt: Well, some booths actually did have headphones.

Kyle: That's nice.

Matt: Enchanted Arms for the 360 offered headphones.

Jesus: I was about to say, has ANYONE heard the English VAs?

Gabriel: Nope.

Donovan: Nope.

Liv: Okay, everybody start asking their final questions! We're gonna start wrapping it up.

Jerry: what's the airspeed of an unladen swallow!

Kyle: Was that good?

Jerry: Er, -! +?

Kyle: Enchanted Arms?

Matt: What is WITH that?

Matt: Haha, yeah, it was interesting.

Jesus: Formerly [eM] -eNCHANT aRM-.

Jerry: Enchanted Arms looked cool.

Matt: The first really... potentially meaty-looking RPG for the 360.

Jesus: Aside from Effect.

Donovan: Was Children of Mana at E3?

Jerry: Children of Mana~! Now THAT was a good demo.

Matt: And yes, Children of Mana looks like lots of fun.

Liv: I have Children of Mana!

Liv: It's really quite enjoyable.

Jerry: It was.

Kyle: The battle system didn't look all that good, but the cinematics looked REALLY nice, from trailers I've seen at least.

Matt: Very traditional, but with elements from Sword of Mana.

Matt: Um, the battle system was actually fairly enjoyable to me.

Jerry: To me, it felt like Secret [of Mana] improved.

Donovan: Yay!

Jesus: Isn't SE going to whore out World of Mana too?

Matt: World of Mana looks beautiful.

Jerry: Which is surprising to me.

Kyle: That's good to hear.

Gabriel: Okay.

Liv: I'm excited for World of Mana.

Donovan: Me too!

Jerry: How do you have Children of Mana, Liv?

Liv: I have it imported.

Jerry: Is it out in Japan already and I missed it?

Jerry: Ahhhh.

Liv: Yeah, lol.

Kyle: I have another reason to get a 360, lol.

Jesus: It's a great system.

Jesus: Come to think of it, what other RPGs were announced for PS3?

Jesus: All I've heard is FFXIII...

Matt: FFXIII, and that is all... I believe.

Matt: Yeah.

Kyle: Fabula Nova Crystallis is all.

Gabriel: MGS.

Gabriel: Guns of the Patriots

Gabriel: Not an RPG, but amazing nonetheless.

Jesus: Oh yeah, FFVsXIII.

Kyle: Yeah.

Kyle: Agito is for the cell phone though.

Matt: Compare Nintendo, with many more RPG titles at LAUNCH!

Jesus: But not fighting.

Jesus: CHANGE!

Matt: It's a really exciting concept

Jerry: MGS4 was a video. A nice video, but just a video.

* Jerryr wants freaking gamplay.

Donovan: LOL

Jesus: Indeed.

Matt: Amen.

Jesus: Though it was nice of Solid Snake to do his impression of Sony for us.

Kyle: LOL!

Gabriel: But if that's representative of actual gameplay, it's still amazing.

Kyle: You mean at the end of the trailer??

Jesus: Yeah.

Matt: With Dragon Quest Swords, a Fire Emblem game, and Zelda, there are more RPGs that I want to play for the Wii than for the PS3 at this time.

Matt: Unless of course, FFXIII comes out with 6 more versions.

Jesus: Which is entirely possible.

Kyle: Lol..

Kyle: OH! Was there a playable demo of Twilight Princess?

Matt: Oh yes.

Jerry: Yes.

Jerry: YES!

Matt: There was. ^^

Liv: Okay! One last question!

Kyle: Anyone play?

Jerry: I played it - it rocked. I want more...

Matt: It was quite something.

Kyle: Nice.

Jerry: MORE~!!

Kyle: This is good.

Jesus: I saw a playthrough of it on Gamevideos.

Jesus: The cursor was bouncing around like mad...

Matt: I stood in line for 4.5 hours for it, and yeah... the controls will be a bit to get used to.

Kyle: Wow.

Matt: BUT-! It did play amazingly. I was very impressed.

Jerry: I cut to the front of the line~!

Kyle: XD

Matt: WHAT!?

Jesus: Hehe.

Liv: Ahahaha.

Jerry: Media badge for the win! <3

Matt: I tried three times to do that!

Jerry: + appointment

Matt: I HAD ONE TOO!!!

Matt: Ugh... true.

Matt: I was on the plane at that point.

Kyle: How long do you get to play for?

Matt: The demo was about 10 minutes long.

Jesus: Do you think it'll play better than the Cube version though?

Jesus: It WAS designed as a Cube game.

Matt: It's hard to say - the Cube version wasn't playable.

Gabriel: Can I have a media badge for next year?

Jerry: Who knows.

Kyle: Oh.

Kyle: Twilight Princess would be out already if they hadn't decided to throw in the Wii stuff.

Jerry: I got used to it really quickly.

Jerry: it was so intuitive after I realized I didn't need to move my whole arm. ^^;

Jesus: I don't know, seeing some of the people play with the controller, it looked to work best for simpler games.

Matt: It does for people who aren't used to it.

Matt: It's not the best game to play with the Wii controller for the very first time.

Matt: I'd say that the simpler games would be great "exercises" to warm people up.

Kyle: Someone said it was like getting used to a new mouse.

Liv: Okaaaaaaaaay... annnnnd... we're done!!!!!

Kyle: I think it was a good choice of action.

Jerry: Nah, the controls made perfect sense to me.

Jesus: Well you're special like that. :)

Jerry: Just sayin'.

Matt: Hahaha.

Liv: We're.... done!
