Lufia III update

Lufia III's going to be making its way to the U.S., but it's not going to be on the console it was initially planned for. Natsume will be publishing Lufia III later this year in the U.S. on get this: the Game Boy Color.

After hearing this information on Wednesday, RPGamer had a meeting with Natsume. We were met by not only the usual PR people, but with the special guest of Yashiro Maekawa, President of Natsume Inc. First, after pleasantries, he did confirm Lufia III: Ruins Chaser for the Game Boy Color. As shown with Harvest Moon at E3, Natsume is very capable of using the most possible colors the GBC has to offer (56 at a time). While there was no demo or screen shots, Natsume did promise media, and possibly even a previewable version before the end of the summer.

The reason for the change was the introduction of the PlayStation 2, of all things. Because of the enormous capabilities of the future system, Natsume had to make a decision to remake Lufia III for the PSX2, or to use what they have now, and create a new title. Natsume decided that, by overwhelming fan requests, that two titles are the way to go. Because the title did not have heavy CG sequences, or other advantages home consoles have over portables, that the GBC was the best chance for the most exposure. Then, after the newer systems are close to release, Lufia IV (unknown title) would be in production, and possibly even debut on the PlayStation 2.
