Bandai Namco revealed more details about the upcoming DIMPS-developed Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet. The details features aspects from both the story and gameplay, also introducing a few more characters appearing in the game.
The story beings with the player-created protagonist first logging into the fictional VRMMORPG Gun Gale Online, where they are greeted by ArFA-sys, an AI assistant. ArFA-sys gives players the weapon they are most suited to and end up giving the protagonist an Ultimate Fiber Gun (UFG), which can fire wires enabling quick 3D movement and is a weapon noone else has. This puts the protagonist in the crosshairs of various jealous players.
Like previous games, players will meet up with character the series as well as others, being able to form a party of up to four, and can give basic commands to their allies. Two more potential allies from the series introduced were Yuuki and Strea. Bandai Namco also revealed that Llen and Pitohui from Sword Art Online: Alternative Gun Gale Online will be added in a free update.
Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet is being created by DIMPS, a different studio than those who made prior games in the series, and focuses on third-person shooting as opposed to the melee combat of previous titles. The game is planned for release in Japan on February 8, 2018, and in North America and Europe in early 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
In other Sword Art Online news, Bandai Namco revealed that Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization will be released for PC via Steam. The game will be available next week, on October 27, 2017, with the PC version including all the DLC including the three-part Abyss of the Shrine Maiden story.
