The last large-scale update for Square Enix's long-running MMORPG, Final Fantasy XI, has been released. This last update provides the final chapter of the game's Rhapsodies of Vana'diel storyline, offering a finale to decide the future of the world of Vana'diel at the new area of Reisenjima.
To celebrate the update's release, Square Enix announced that all previous Final Fantasy XI players with inactive accounts as of October 23, 2015 will be able to play the final chapter for free between November 13, 2015 and November 24, 2015 as part of the "Return Home to Vana'diel" campaign. Those who do not have access to the required prior expansions will need to purchase them first, however, Square Enix is offering a discounts on expansions up until November 30, 2015. The Ultimate Collection Seekers Edition contains all expansions from Rise of the Zilart to Seekers of Adoulin and is discounted to $9.99, while the Seekers of Adoulin expansion by itself is discounted to $4.99. The game's World Transfer Service is also being discounted to $9.00.
Square Enix released a new trailer showing some of the content provided by the latest update. Support for Final Fantasy XI is set to continue indefinitely for PC users, but will end in March 2016 for PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360.
