Some more information about Disgaea D2, the first direct sequel to come out of Nippon Ichi's Disgaea series, has surfaced in Japan. Disgaea D2 takes place some years after the events of the first game, with protagonist Laharl in place as Demon Overlord. It seems Laharl's rule so far has been met with relative indifference by most of the demons and so Laharl sets of to remind them of who's boss with Flonne and Etna in tow.
Joining the cast for D2 is Sicily, who claims to be the daughter of King Krichevskoy and, by extension, Laharl's sister. She has left Heaven for the Netherworld in order to usurp Laharl and take over as the Overlord. Two other characters are also set to be introduced, although the only images so far made available are in silhouette form. Laharl's Overlord castle will act as the hub world for this game, which looks set to retain the vast majority of gameplay systems seen elsewhere in the series. One new addition is the presence of mid-battle event scenes.
In addition to the story details, a large number of screenshots were released, a sample of which can be seen below, with the full set located here. Disgaea D2 is due out in Japan on March 20, 2013 on PlayStation 3.
