Until recently, Runic Games' Torchlight was only going to be available for purchase at http://www.torchlightgame.com/ and through Perfect World's portal. 30 days after its release date Torchlight was to come to Steam as well. Runic Games has announced that Steam users will no longer have to wait those 30 days, as Torchlight will be available on the service on the very day of release.
Torchlight has a Diablo-esque style of gameplay, created largely by members of the Mythos team. Players will choose one of three classes: Alchemist, Destroyer, or Vanquisher, to take on the game's randomized levels. Defeating monsters, collecting massive amounts of loot, and solving puzzles is the name of the game. Players can also pick a pet to accompany themselves, go fishing, and customize their characters in various ways. A retirement system allows high level characters to retire, bestowing benefits upon new characters.
Torchlight will also come with an editor of some sort, giving players the power to create their own content. The game is scheduled for release on October 27 for the price of $19.99. Visit Torchlight's official site at http://www.torchlightgame.com for more information.
