The latest issue of Famitsu has announced a surprising new game from Nintendo: an RPG featuring Tingle from The Legend of Zelda series. The memorable character was a middle aged man who clothed himself in a fairy costume and pretended to actually be a fairy.
His most notable appearance in the series was in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, where Tingle could be controlled by a Game Boy Advance connected to the Gamecube. He functioned as a guide for the hero, Link, helping him explore areas and acquire items. Tingle could also be used offensively by dropping bombs from the air.
Tingle RPG, which is in development for the Nintendo DS, has no official name or gameplay details yet. The first released screenshot of the game, however, does show Tingle targeting an enemy from the air and dropping bombs, similar to his function in Wind Waker. The game is slated for a Japanese release sometime in 2006.
