Bandai Namco today announced Ashes of Ariandel, the first of two downloadable expansions for Dark Souls III. The expansion will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 25, 2016, and cost $14.99. There will also be season pass priced at $24.99 that will grant access to both Ashes of Ariandel and the forthcoming second expansion, planned for release in early 2017.
The expansion takes players to the frozen lands of Ariandel, where they are tasked with defeating the evil than has corrupted the lands. In addition to the new location, which includes new enemies, challenges, and lore, the expansion will add in new weapons, armor sets, and magic. It will also offer new multiplayer features, though the exact details of these are unconfirmed.
Dark Souls III was originally released in April 2016 and is the fourth title in From Software's Souls series. Those interested in reading more about the game can check out Zack Webster's review.
