After launching a free alpha for the action RPG Nioh back in April, Koei Tecmo is returning to the idea with a newer version of the game. Nioh's second online demo will be available from August 23, 2016, until September 6, 2016, at which point the servers will become unavailable once again.
New to this demo will be a dojo stage, which will give basic details on the game's mechanics. An as-of-yet unannounced stage will also be available, along with a selection of new weapons in each of the four shown categories: katanas, spears, axes, and hammers. New details were also given concerning some of the game's NPCs. The protagonist, will be led across the land by Hanzo Hattori, the head of a ninja clan. Some NPCs will even fight alongside William, like Ginchiyo Tachibana, who attacks in tandem with her Raiken guardian spirit.
Nioh is the story of a man of mixed Japanese and English descent named William, who journeys his way across Japan during the Warring States period. Not only is the nation in war, oni and other mythical creatures have also made an appearance. The game is still set to release in 2016 exclusively for PlayStation 4.
