Nintendo has released a new subtitle for Mario & Luigi, which is now known as Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. The Mario RPG series is famed for melding turn-based RPG battles with the jumping challenges of a platformer, and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga claims to be no different. Battles were given a twist when it was announced that you will control both Mario and Luigi in battle, one with the A button and the other with the B button, combining their powers for some super-powerful moves. It has also been discovered that Nintendo is giving the boss battles an interesting little twist where they will play more like action-oriented mini-games.
The story is also quite unique in some ways. The Princess is in trouble again, but this time it's not Bowser doing the trouble-making. An evil witch steals her voice and, just for the heck of it, replaces it with explosives. Of course Mario and Luigi swear vengeance and head off to the neighboring kingdom where the witch lives. On the way they meet Bowser who was just on his way to kidnap the Princess again, but upon being informed of the situation joins the brothers on their quest.
The game is still slated for a November 17th release in North America and there will be more than one fan of quirky RPGs looking out for it. The interesting new directions this game takes will be something to watch out for.
