Tangrin Entertainment's Kyn was present at indie publisher Versus Evil's E3 booth. Zack Webster and Emanuel Merino had the chance to check out the game, with Zack's written impression and Emanuel's chat with the developer below.
I didn't get to spend much time with Kyn, a more modern take on classic isometric RPGs from over a decade ago, but what little time I did spend with it seems to be fun take on real time with pause. A better way to describe it is real time with slowdown, Kyn mixes the tactical aspects of isometric combat with the urgency of hack and slash titles. In addition to each character's basic attack, several quick slots are available to have skills hotkeyed at all times, each of which operate on a cooldown. Cycling through party members is not only easy, but necessary. Characters are just as fragile as their enemies and making strategic moves in a timely manner is a must. Developer Tangrin Entertainment says that the game will be quite difficult and RPGamers will get to find out for themselves, as the game releases on PC this July.
