While waiting to see Might & Magic: Heroes Kingdoms at Ubisoft's booth during E3, RPGamer was able to get an eyes-on look of Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes HD for PSN and XBLA. Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes is an HD version of Clash of Heroes on the DS that has many new features, online play, new animations, and of course, HD visuals.
The PSN and XBLA versions are not just a port of the DS version. It has all new hand-animated 2D HD art at 60 fps. Some of the units have around 140 different animations to show off their personalities and unique abilities. While the demo we saw at E3 looked fantastic, the Might & Magic team is still working on all the different animations to make this game look even better.
Units, artifacts, and factions have also been redesigned. If you played the DS version, some units were stronger than others and players would only use a few units all the time. Many units have been given new abilities so that all units are more balanced and players will be more likely to use a larger variety of units. Factions have also been given their own abilities, and artifacts have been redesigned so that the game will have more strategy to it.
Other new features include online multiplayer and the ability to go back and play through any previous levels or missions you have completed in the campaign any time you want. Online multiplayer consists of 1v1 and 2v2. There will also be multiplayer specific artifacts available.
In case you aren't familiar with Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes, this game takes place 40 years before Might & Magic V where all factions have come together at one camp. However, they get ambushed by enemies and only five children survive the attack. These five children spend the rest of the story figuring out who attacked the camp and what is going on.
If you liked playing Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes on the DS, this game will be even better on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Thankfully, you won't have to wait long as it is set to come later this year.
