An announcement on the official Japanese Pokémon website recently revealed remakes in development of both Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver for the Nintendo DS. The remakes will be titled Pokémon Heart Gold and Pokémon Soul Silver.
Gold and Silver originally were released for the Game Boy Color on November 21, 1999 in Japan and on October 15, 2000 in North America. The remakes have only been confirmed for Japan at this time, and have been scheduled for Fall 2009. While it may seem odd to remake 10 year old games, Pokémon rosters have changed quite a bit over the years, so the remakes may allow those newer to the series to experience some of the original Pokémon, along with any other additions planned to be included.
