Sega of America and Sega of Europe jointly announced that Phantasy Star Universe: Ambition of the Illuminus would be released for the PlayStation 2, Windows PC, and Xbox 360 this fall. The title is an expansion of the original Phantasy Star Universe, and has players creating their own avatar instead of playing as Ethan Waber this time around.
Players will recognize many returning characters, including Ethan, but now, not only can they customize a character for multiplayer, but also for the single-player portion of the game. Ambition of the Illuminus is a direct continuation of the story, leaving players to clean up the chaotic Gurhal system.
Of course, those interested in what's been added will find a plethora of new characters, weapons, items, locations, missions, classes, abilities, and basically anything else that could be expanded on. At this point, it is unknown if the game will require players to own the original Phantasy Star Universe, though since the original version doesn't require use of the PS2 hard drive, it seems highly unlikely.
