In 2001 the X-Men were done justice with the release of X-Men Legends. Once again up to four players can join forces in the living room, or online with X-Box Live, to fight a menace much more terrifying than the Brotherhood.
In X-Men Legends II, the X-Men and the Brotherhood temporarily set aside their hatred of each other and join forces to fight off Apocalypse. From a roster of 16 playable characters you can create a team of four to take on the evil. Unlike the first X-Men Legends title, all the characters are available from the start of the game, including Wolverine, Bishop, Cyclops, Nightcrawler and Storm from the X-Men, as well as Magneto, Toad, and Juggernaut from the Brotherhood. Players can expect much more character variety than in the first game.
There are more costumes, three which are immediately available for each character, more items and equipment, and of course more powers. Instead of three individual powers, each character now has ten. During level up, players can instantly decide how to assign the points awarded without leaving the action.
During the game players will encounter over 100 different types of enemies as well as tons of hidden paths and equipment in locations such as the South Pole, Weapon X Facility, Infinite Factory, and even Egypt. A few of those enemies include Lady Deathstrike and the Four Horsemen of Apocalypse. You will be able to stock equipment, begin new missions, finish old ones, and regroup in over 70 free-roaming zones. Environments also have more puzzles to solve using mutant powers, more items to interact with, and more destructibility.
X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse will arrive in North American stores this fall. RPGamer will keep you informed of any new developements.
