The Cross-Over Linear Motion Battle System, or X-LMBS, for Tales of Legendia will be incorporating many maneuvers that players might find similar to those used in fighting games. For example, Senel, a character with martial arts skills, will have the ability to body slam enemies. Another maneuver called: "Bashing Through" will be available through multiple characters, and will allow players to slip behind the enemy for quick pincher and backstabbing attacks. This action, in particular, takes advantage of the sidways view that X-LMBS uses for batttle.
In addition to fighting game style maneuvers, Tales of Legendia will offer a "Climax Mode." Each character will have his or her own "Climax Guage" to initiate this special battle effect. Once it is filled, the mode will be induced and all enemy defense stats will drop dramatically, along with their speed, leaving them ripe for a butt-kicking.
As more game details are released, RPGamer will be sure to make them available.
