Nintendo has announced and briefly detailed the DLC for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the first for a mainline Legend of Zelda title. The expansion pass will be available at the game's launch on March 3, 2017 for $19.99/£17.99/€19.99.
The content of the pass will be released periodically throughout 2017, though some small items will be available immediately. Once purchased, three treasure chests will appear in the Great Plateau area of the game. Two of the chests will contain useful items while the third has a unique Nintendo Switch shirt for Link to wear. The first significant content will arrive in sometime in the summer, which will see the addition of a Cave of Trials challenge, a new hard mode, and a new feature for the in-game map. The second content pack, planned for late 2017, will add a new dungeon and a new original story.
The expansion pass will be available for both the Wii U and the Switch and the content will be the same between both. The two content packs included in the expansion pass will not be available for purchase individually.
