Bandai Namco recently released a new video for Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, showing some gameplay from the upcoming title. The video, viewable below, shows some exploration on both the world map and in Cloudcoil Canyon, as well as some combat against Thogg, the Woolly Bully of Cloudcoil Canyon, which features the involvement of small creatures called Higgledies.
Developer Level-5 also released some new details about Ni no Kuni II's story on the game's official Japanese website. Ni no Kuni is a world separate from our own with its own history. The sequel stars Evan, the former King of Ding Dong Dell, who assumed the throne at a young age but was ousted in a coup. After his separated from his mother/sister figure, Evan decides to form his own kingdom and unify the world of Ni no Kuni.
Evan is joined by a some allies. Roland is the 48-year-old president of a large country in Ichi no Kuni (the series' version of the real world), but appears as a 20-year-old in Ni no Kuni, while Tani is the adopted daughter of the chief of a sky pirate gang. Finally, Higgledies are small elemental spirits that can only be seen by the pure-hearted. They contribute in battle and in letting players travel to places they would not otherwise be able to reach.
Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is set for a worldwide release sometime in 2017. The game will be available for PalyStation 4 and PC.
