A slew of info regarding Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3's online modes has recently been revealed by Square Enix. There are multiple modes and functions that can be accessed via StreetPass, SpotPass, and local multiplayer, including the ability to give or trade monsters directly with others.
One-on-one battles for simple supremacy can be fought via local multiplayer, as well as team-based "Grand Prix Battles", with an eight-team maximum. Earning more Judge Points than one's adversary by using special skills and defeating monsters is the key to victory here. Players can set up a team and decide which monsters to ride on during StreetPass battles. This mode can even be used to scout an opponent's monster.
SpotPass functionality can earn players items, treasure chests, even the chance to battle against teams with special monsters. Finally, the Great Riders Cup is a mode in which players battle against three others either locally, online, or against the computer, by riding a monster into battle. The object of this mode is to catch the most amount of slimes in the field and bring them back to the goal area, battling against the other players along the way. The monster players choose to ride into battle will have its own acceleration, speed, and other stats, which will differ by race, and items can be used to aid in battle as well.
