With the impending release of Pillars of Eternity: The White March — Part II, Obsidian Entertainment is planning a massive update Pillars of Eternity. The update will apply to both owners of the expansion and for those who only have the base game.
The biggest change the patch is bringing to the game is additional content for strongholds, injuries, and Story Time mode. Strongholds see the biggest change, as the available adventures will now have unique stories and rewards for completing them. Vistors will come to seek counsel, imparting news and other information, and a new quest line will open up where the player must fight to maintain control of the keep.
Knockout Injuries are optional, semi-permanent debilitations that occur when a party member falls in combat and remain until the next rest. Story Time mode is an additional difficulty level for those more interested in the story than the combat. In Story Time mode, encounters feature the same enemy compositions as in Normal difficulty, however, stats and other areas are weighted much more in the player's favor.
More changes are set for the patch, many being functional or cosmetic improvements, such as separating "per rest" and "per encounter" abilities on the action bar, a more in-depth bestiary, and a rebalanced Act III. The patch goes live on February 16, 2016, the same day as The White March — Part II releases.
