XSEED Games has announced that Shadow Hearts: From the New World has shipped to retailers across North America. The third installment in the Shadow Hearts series, From the New World takes place in the United States during the Great Depression. Players take control of Johnny Garland, a 16-year-old detective who lost his faster, sister, and even his memory in a previous accident. After being hired to track down a criminal suspect, players will eventually travel with Johnny across both North and South America, and see real-world locations like Chicago, Las Vegas, Rio de Janeiro, New York City, and the Grand Canyon.
The series' trademark Judgment Ring battle system returns in the newest Shadow Hearts game with several revisions: a "stock system" allowing players to either execute attacks via combos with another character, or a "double" command enabling a character to perform two actions in a single turn. With additional side-quests and mini-games included, From the New World can take gamers more than 60 hours to complete.
Shadow Hearts: From the New World is available at North American retailers for a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price of $39.99, and has been rated "T" for Teen by the ESRB. RPGamer's review can be found here.
