A few days ago, a message appeared on the official World of Warcraft forums stating that over a thousand accounts had been permanently suspended. This mass ban was in response to an investigation concerning certain individuals known to farm gold with the sole intent of selling it for real world currency. "We do not condone such actions," read the message, "and will take decisive action as they are against our policy and damage the game economy as a whole."
Blizzard also declared that they would continue researching the matter. Gamers were encouraged to report such gold farming to wowgm@blizzard.com.
