Second Morrowind Expansion Arriving from Bethesda

Bethesda Software announced today that it will be releasing a second expansion to the best-selling game Elder Scrolls III:Morrowind in May of this year. The expansion will be titled The Elder Scrolls III: Bloodmoon and will feature a drastic change of scenery from the previous games. Sailing far northwest from the lands of Vvardenfell, players will be free to explore the frozen vastness of the expansion's new area, the Island of Solstheim.

The story of Bloodmoon will be centered around a new mining colony of the Empire which is being ravaged by Werewolf attacks. However, within this framework, players will be free to choose their own path. Along with common options such as defending the colony, controlling how it is developed, and eventually defeating the werewolves, players will also be able to join the werewolves. A change from standard gameplay, werewolf players will abandon the use of weapons in favor of their own talents and will receive dreams which will guide their story progression.

In addition to play and story changes, Bloodmoon will also feature a host of new arctic enemy types including ice trolls, bears, and spriggans; as well as new environmental effects such as blizzards. Bloodmoon will be released for the PC and will be not require the previous expansion, Elder Scrolls III:Tribunal, to function. Players will also be able to explore the world of Bloodmoon at any point within their standard Morrowind adventures.
