Music-Based RPG Fretless Revealed

Publisher Playdigious and developer Ritual Studios announced Fretless: The Wrath of Riffson, a pixel-art RPG with turn-based combat and deckbuilding elements. The game features a world inspired by musician Rob Scallon, as players aim to restore harmony to a world where every element creates its own music. Its main antagonist is Rick Riffson, boss of the evil Super Metal Records company, who is using a Battle of the Bands contest to trap musicians with soul-binding contracts.

Fretless sees players amass their own collection of riffs, being able to add them to their deck and unleash powerful solos. Players can also select their preferred instrument, and customise it with bridges, strings, etc. Fretless: The Wrath of Riffson is being developed for PC and is planned to release in 2024. It can currently be wishlisted on Steam.
