Rexy
Key of Destiny: Part 1
Piano Game(s): Kingdom Hearts
MP3
Download: [Download (6855.55k)]
Comment: Howdy folks, this is Rexy again. This week I will come forth with the first collaboration that I ever took part in, thanks to k-wix who managed to chip in with the opportunity 8 months ago. This is a medley of tracks from Kingdom Hearts, all written for Solo piano. Part 1 depends more on some of the lighter themes from the earlier portions of the game including Dearly Beloved, A Day in Agrabah and the Gummi Ship music, while Part 2 holds some of the themes better suited for the end of the game including Hollow Bastion, Guardando Nel Buio and Always On My Mind. In comparison to the VGMix version the mastering has been refined a great deal, and has been split into two separate MP3s for easier listening. It was a great experience working with k-wix on this, and who knows, we may even come together sometime again in the future :D.

Zelda's Nightmare
Trance Game(s): Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
MP3 Splendid Performance Final Winner
Download: [Download (9853.57k)]
Comment: What I wanted to capture for my entry ino the Splendid Performance finals was an element of surprise alongside with twisting the nature of the chosen source material. The best way I could do that was take a light and reflective maidenly theme like Zelda's Lullaby and transform it in more ways than one including a minor key, a moodier edge than the original and a future-ish feel in the performance. I sincerely hope you enjoy it :)
Fallen Endowment
Piano Game(s): Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
MIDI
Download: [Download (17.49k)]
Comment: First of all, apologies for the MIDI; I would have done a proper render before leaving college campus for the summer but time was too short. Anyway, this submission holds an arrangement of the Gerudo Valley theme from Zelda 64. But it's not just any incarnation of said theme; it's my attempt at translating "Falling Back" - Darangen's arrangement of that song - into solo piano. I sent this over to him as a little birthday gift, because I know for sure that in the time we've been floating around the community, he has shown himself to be bar none the most supportive "VGMix-er" I have known. Thanks again, and cheers ;)
Little Hylians
Trance Game(s): Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
MP3
Download: [Download (5464.12k)]
Comment: This was my entry for the Peoples' Remix Competition 80, where Sir Nuts decided to get many people together to remix the Minish Woods theme from Zelda: The Minish Cap on the Gameboy Advance. This is actually the first full-instrument work I've made since the Summer break, so of course it would mean a good chance to brush up on what I knew about song development under a short time frame. Though I didn't win (I was beaten to first by Dragonlord), I still found it as a fun experience to take up remixing Zelda again. I hope you guys like it, and if you want to make something for PRC81, please visit the OCR boards this Friday ;)
Armageddon
Piano Game(s): Live A Live
MIDI
Download: [Download (47.3k)]
Comment: My MIDI collection of Live A Live music has been progressing a lot since I first started undertaking that task a couple of months ago. By now there's only a handful of songs in the OST that are without MIDI counterparts, so at this rate this could even be clear by February if it keeps up. Nonetheless, my next sample of progress is a transcription of "Armageddon", the music you hear when you get the worst ending possible. It wasn't easy to figure out something as complex melodically into a MIDI format, but I think I did fine with this one. Thanks for hearing this, and if you want to see more of what I've done, explore the New-Files area of VGMusic and see what you can find :)
The Goose and the Cursed Knight
Rock Game(s): Live A Live
MP3 The Grand Audition 2009 - Final Round (A Malevolent Masterpiece) Entry
Download: [Download (11392.94k)]
Comment: Odio, the main villain for Live A Live and the subject matter I've chosen for this round, can be seen as an unconventional type of villain for its time so what I put together was something just as unconventional for what I'd normally do. It's a piano-led track, but with a more modern and almost gutsy backup of what could be considered a chamber-band setting in parts; think of it as Shimomura meets Reuben Kee meets Avenged Sevenfold meets Russ Conway (!) and you'll see what I mean. The original track I chose for the task, "Twisted Goosewings", was a symphonic track that I wrote 2 years ago for an unfinished soundtrack project, representing a fallen hero that could shapeshift into a goose at will. Chances are, if you know how the final scenarios of Chapter 8 in the game go like, you'll understand the closer link between original and source tune selections as well as how the structure related to Odio as a character. Thanks for reading this, now go listen :)
Another Boat Song
Rock Game(s): Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete
MP3 Splendid Performance Audition Phase 4
Download: [Download (3652.13k)]
Comment: This is Rexy speaking (or something of the sort). Well it wasn't easy, but we have something fresh to present to the site. Over the past few weeks Majin spent his attention to writing a variation on Luna's Boat Song. I saw him struggle to find a vocalist to sing along to it though, so I decided to help him out. Even though the vox still isn't quite as perfect as we both imagined it, we still think it's feasible for a submission out here, am I right? Anyways, thanks for your time brothers and sisters.
Reign of the Mana Sword Part 1
Rock Game(s): Secret of Mana
MP3
Download: [Download (5944.61k)]
Comment: For the Dwelling of Duels' Seiken Densetsu (Mana) month of November 2005, I challenged myself to arrange as much of the Secret of Mana score for four pianos within the time allotted. The result shows a 20 minute medley when all four parts are combined, going alongside the storyline for the game. Part 1 relates to the opening and the three main characters in some fashion, part 2 is based on the regions of the worlds our heroes visit and their quest to seal the Mana Seeds, part 3 shows its relations to the Mana Palaces and the events during the awakening of the Mana Fortress, and part 4 is obviously the finale. Have a nice time listening to this, and Merry Christmas ^_^

Summoning of Spirits
Trance Game(s): Tales of Phantasia
MP3
Download: [Download (8465.28k)]
Comment: My first Sound Test contribution in 2 years (!) co-incides with the release of "Summoning of Spirits", the latest OverClocked Remix site project, covering music from Tales of Phantasia and Tales of Symphonia. This is one of four tracks that I did for it - a chilled variation on "Fighting of the Spirit" written to close the album. If you knew what to expect from me 3 years ago, then you'll get it here - subtle melodic work, emphasis on atmosphere, my trademark piano incorporations... I feel that with what I put down here, this is my proudest contribution for the album. Thanks, and visit tales.ocremix.org to check out the other 52 tracks as well :D
