Okay, so I originally planned to post this update on Friday, but being in a nation that is predominantly Catholic, all net cafés were closed. Opening on Good Friday is "bad for business," I was told. And so I pushed back the update to Saturday, but I did not expect that I would be so toxic. It was a "black" Saturday, alright. I was the junior ward physician on duty, or "JWAPOD" as we are most affectionately called. During my tour of duty, four patients had chest pain, one of which had viral myocarditis and another had lateral wall ischemia. And then a 20 year-old male with a probable congenital liver disease vs an inborn error of metabolism in hepatic encephalopathy got intubated and hooked to a ventilator. Right beside him, a patient with portal hypertension began pooping blood like crazy... Thankfully none of them died on my watch, though the 20-year-old did die the morning after. Because of everything that happened, I ended up sleeping all Sunday. The end result is this ridiculously late update.
Now, enough of the excuses and on to the music. Our piece for today is the second track of Kain Vinosec's Final Fantasy IV Tribute EP that features his take on the very "imperial" Fabul. I have to admit, I miss the flute that flutters about during course of the original piece. However, the vigor that Kain infuses into the piece is more than enough compensation. The percussions are very striking, though I suppose Kain could have used better drum samples. The mix refuses to stray too far from the original, at least in terms of melodic content, but the overall feel is decidedly different. Kain would very much appreciate your constructive criticisms, so do visit the forums and put your comments there.
As these tracks are all part of a single album, I shall post the rest of the tracks in rapid succession. That means weekly updates for all the Sound Test followers out there. So stay tuned!
Well, have a great week, folks! I'll definitely be having an exceedingly tiring one, so I hope at least yours will be more manageable. Until next update!
