Oh my goodness. The Return of the King is amazing. I just saw it, and it's worth the $10 ticket I bought, plus the $65 violation I got from the stupid one-hour parking meter.
Some really fun music this week. I wish I could have had one of them for the Halloween Submission thingie that had such a poor turnout. It would have been nice to have a third piece round out the total. Collaborative projects are always interesting, and when two of the most prolific contributors of recent times team up, there's bound to be interesting things happening.
Enough ruminating. You're here for the music, and I'm here to present it. With no further wait, here you go!

A simple orchestra rendition with both heavy strings, and an overdrive guitar to accompany it. Swift drums with techno instruments drive it forward, with some trumpets popping up occasionally. Pretty straight-forward.
From Tom: I enjoyed doing a collaborative remix for the first time! And I hope to do another one in the future.
From Matt: I've done FOUR Mario RPG remixes to date, and when Tom and I decided to put a mix together, I thought it would be a cool idea to do what might be my last Mario RPG remix (what can I say, it's one of my favorite games :P).
Anyway, Tom put together a solid base mix, and it served as a wonderful foundation to build the rest of it on. I was originally only going to do an intro and ending to the mix, but after running that through, thought it sounded a bit cheap. So I made a remix as well, and, with fingers crossed, applied the two tracks together. Miraculously, the notes matched up (whew) and really enhanced the sound of the mix.
My intent for the opening of the mix is pretty apparent. Using a digital expand effect, the mix opens with MY remix in the left channel, and Tom's in the right. The effect causes the sounds to start in seperate speakers, and then converge in a pretty cool fashion.
My remix was constructed around Tom's, and I used things like string and guitar instruments to compliment and ground his bass and drum-heavy mix.
As the remix pulls to a close, Tom's remix kicks in solo, passes it on to my remix (which I digitally made quieter, to emphasize the ending of the mix), which passes back to him, passes back to me, and they converge a final time for one big, dramatic finish, echoing out.
The whole thing zips by at just over 2 minutes. It's fast-paced, with a heavy beat, and a frantic, but rythmic pace.
