New Updates, Reviews, Previews - Hiring Call
01.02.2008

BILLY YOUNG
Public Relations Manager

RPGamer

If you desire to break into the gaming industry, have a strong affinity for the RPG genre, and have a love for writing, then RPGamer is the place for you. Since its inception in 1998, RPGamer has grown to be one of the most well known, respected, and popular RPG-centric websites in the world. Of course, none of this would be possible if it weren't for the hard work the staff of RPGamer has put in over the years. Over the past few months we have experienced turnover in several key areas, and as a result we are now looking to hire several news writers, game reviewers and at least one previewer. The responsibilities of a news writer are as follows:

  • Complete a minimum of four news and/or media updates a week.
  • Keep up to date with the latest news and trends concerning RPGs.
  • Spend a significant amount of time online in RPGamer's IRC chat rooms.

Those who are interested in joining the New Updates team should fill out the updates application, which is now available online.

A basic knowledge of HTML is strongly recommended for each of these positions; that said, most updating is done automatically so this is not a necessity.

Meanwhile, we are also seeking at least one previewer to join our staff. Previewers are responsible for gathering all available information about an upcoming title and presenting it in an attractive, easy-to-read format, using our pre-made template.

Currently, we are also in need of game reviewers to compile reviews and retroviews. The responsibilities of a game reviewer are as follows:

  • Must give any required assistance to the Points of View Curator upon their request.
  • No fewer than four (4) points toward quota must be attained through writing Reviews of any kind.

How the quota is compiled is up to the individual, though, as there are different quota specifications for each type of review.

Positions at RPGamer are currently unpaid; but this isn't to say that working here isn't without other rewards. In addition to having your writing read by a wide audience and the most renowned video game companies in the industry, RPGamer staff members are also privy to their very own @RPGamer.com email address, as well as the satisfaction of knowing that they are an integral part of RPGamer.

The deadline for applications is 12:00 AM Pacific Standard Time on Wednesday, February 6. Interviews will be held as applications are received, so don't delay. If you have any questions or concerns, please use the message forum link below, as RPGamer staff will be watching it closely. Thank you for your interest in helping out RPGamer; we look forward to hearing from all of you!

Important note: You are welcome to apply for as many positions as you like; if you do so, however, please indicate your preferred position on the appropriate application. If you have any questions, please use the message board thread for this notice; you may also direct queries to webmaster@rpgamer.com.
