Credits ------------------- Intro ------------------- Squaresoft + Disney = Unholy Unity. Well, that's what I thought anyway. Many of us were probably wondering just what type of game the RPG god and Toon masters could pull of if they ever got together. Thankfully, here's the result: Kingdom Hearts. A surprisingly excellentl game Action-RPG that breathes Disney with a Square body and just a hint of Final Fantasy. If you've ever wanted to see what they'd come up with, well this is it. Anyway, this a FAQ that covers the secrets found in the English version of the game. Take note that most of the names differ from the Japanese version of the game. The conents here are those that I have personally accomplished. I know that there are many more things out there (I hear this game has a TON of secrets), so if you think I missed one you think is important or I made a mistake, please e-mail me. Honestly though, this has to be the game with the longest Side quests I have ever played. In total, it's taken me almost 8 full hours, and that's mostly because it takes a WHOLE lot of time lokking for those items for synthesis and those guys in the coliseum keep kicking my ass. It will definitely take you a whole lot of time to do this, but the rewards are worth it definitely. -------------------- Secrets -------------------- 1. 101 Dalmatians Ah yes, time to look for those cute, adorable puppies of 101 Dalmatians fame. Looks like those pups all got separated and stuffed into boxes after their world got swallowed up, and it's up to you to help Pongo and Perdita bring the whole family back. But a 99 dalmatian hunt? Don't be horrified by the very large number of puppies to find. They come in threes and their surprisingly easy to find. It just takes a matter of time. Take note that you don't need to find them in order, plus you'll need certain abilities to find them, so be sure to check back when you can. They are also reffered to by numbers. Come back every so often to their house in Traverse Town section 2 when you find a few pups to receive some prizes. 1 - 3: In Traverse town inside a box on an island behind Merlin's house. You'll need glide to get it. 4 - 6: In Traverse town. Use the Trinity Move (red color) on the symbol behind the item shop. 7 - 9: In Traverse town. In a chest inside the synthesis shop. 10 - 12: Traverse town. Inside the Sewers 13 - 15: Inside the Queen's room in Wonderland. Bring it to him, and he'll let you use it when you want. Now you can enter the world of everybodies favorite weak-minded, honey-guzzling bear, Winnie the Pooh! However.... the pages are all torn!! Don't worry, all you need to do is find them, and when you do certain parts of the quest the pages will automatically attach themselves and you'll also receive an item. You can find the pages in these places: In Monstro Chamber 6 The underground water passage in the Cave of Wonders In the bookshelf of the Laboratory in Halloween town In Ariel's secret room A prize in the 101 Dalmatian quest This has to be the the easiest part of the game! There's no fighting whatsoever involved, and the hardest part must be the jumping mini-game. But for the sake of those who still need help, here's how to go through them. a. The Log (or whatever you call it) Must I still tell you what to do? Okay, fine. Go toalk to Pooh, then you can leave. From here you can go to any part of the book. b. Pooh's house Get inside, talk to Pooh who complains that he doesn't have any honey. Leave when he leaves, then talk to Owl. If you have pages, the next section will open. c. The Honey Tree You'll see piglet here. He'll run away when you approach. Go behind the tree and sneak behind him. After talking to him, talk to Pooh. Here you'll play the honey minigame. If you think this is easy, then your dead wrong. The frustrating part is that it's so hard to jump and land properly on the branches. Thwacking the bees is easy. Just thwack away and let Pooh eat to his glutinous content. If you have enough pages, a new area will open. d. Rabbit's House Go behind the tree for a scene, then enter the house. Look around and find the pot of honey that Rabbit's hiding from Pooh. Eventually you can go out, but Tigger arrives and now you'll need to play a game to get Pooh unstuck. Here you'll have to get underneath Tigger to stop him from pushing down the carrots. Use the rush command to get under him quickly. It'll take 2 bounces to completely bury the carrot, so you'll have a lot of time to stop him. After that, head into Rabbit's then go to Pooh. If you have pages, the next area will open. e. The Swings Jump into the drink to save Eeyore. From there, slowly lead Pooh to the swings. If you remove the lock or go too far, he'll stop and you'll have to go get him. When you get there you'll have to swing him far enough for him to land where he needs to go. press R1 when Owl drops his wings, and Pooh will land on the pile of sticks, revealing Eeyore's tail and it will upgrade Stop (yes, I have no idea how that happened). If you have enough pages, a new area will open. f. The Large Pot Talk to Tigger and play the Minigame. Just follow where they go and don't worry since there is no time limit anyway. The last part involves thwacking the stuff they throw at you back to smash the pot. Simply jump attack just before the stuff lands to send it back. Eventually it'll break. You can still stay behind to play more minigames or look for items, but you can leave if you want. If you have the last page, the last area will open. g. The Muddy Glen Go too Pooh. After the scene bring him to the big patch in the middleto find Eeeyore. Now you'll have to find everybody. Be sure to talk to them once Pooh talks to them to bring them to the gathering area. For Roo, bring Pooh to the branch near the gathering area. For Rabbit, bring Pooh to the bunch of holes in the big rock thing. You now have the guys on the ground. Shoot fire on the beehive above the log, then go get the guys above. Bring Pooh to the flower stalks so the butterflies will bring him up. From there, talk to Owl and Tigger, clear the webs in the logs with a fire spell, then bring Pooh across to piglet. Talk to Piglet. And there you have it! After one cut scene, Sora leaves, and the lock is set on the book. Quest done. 4. Ansem Reports This one's pretty basic. You'll get 5 while playing the game. You'll get another 4 from Aeris inside the Hollow Bastion library after you lock the keyhole there. Talk to Belle also for another weapon. Beat Hade's in the Hades cup to get the last one. Be sure to read it. It'll help you understand Ansem and a basic history and overview of the heartless. 5. Hade's Cup and other matches This is a 50-battle killer pitting you with the toughest enemies in the game. To unlock this, you must have beaten all 3 previous championships and have locked the keyhole in Hollow Bastion. Then when you return to your ship, Chip/Dale will tell you that there's a new cup in the Coliseum. Since many of the fights are pretty much basic, I'll put hints/tips for the major fights. a. Hade's Cup (suggested level: LV58) 44th place - Yuffie - Same as previous tactics you use at her, the difference being her longer HP bar and her ninja stars. Don't bother with magic since she's too fast for that. Block the ninja stars then get close to her. When you do, just whack away with gay abandon. If she gets away, just rinse and repeat. It'll just take a while. Heal when you need. 40th place - Behemoth - Bah. A pushover. Just use the same tactic you use against him. 30th place - Cerberus - It's not what you think. He's a LOT stronger than when you fought him before. Be sure to have a lot of healing items with all of you. When he breathes dark stuff into the ground, jump glide all the way to evade the attacks coming from the ground, or get on his back. When he does fireballs, get on his back. When he raises up then stomps on the ground, get on his back. When wails around and starts biting at anything, get on his back. Yes, the safest place here is on his back. Try shooting Fire at him at a distance. When he brings his head down, smack away. It'll take a while, but if you memorize it, he isn't that hard. 20th place - Cloud + Squall/Leon - Yup. This is the fight we thought we would never see. Fangirls out there will probably giggle in delight when we finally see Cloud and Squall together kicking ass. Just too bad you'll have to kick their's. I suggest you start with Squall since he's weaker and his attacks are easily avoided. As for Cloud, get out of the way when he does his thrust attack. Like before, he'll do a Braver style attack, and will have to get his sword unstuck. This is your best chance to give it to him. If you do it right, you might just knock him out enough to deal good damage. Don't bother with magic since you won't even get it out in time. 10th - place - Hades - w00t? You call him a god? If you know the tactic he's actually quite easy. At first when you attack it'll seem his life bar just won't move, but after a while it will. When he goes to the center of the ring, he's going to do his spinning flame attack. Just run around in the same direction to avoid his attacks and don't bother hitting him since he's invincible during it. When he stops whack away. That attack is his deadliest, so if you can avoid it then it'll only take you a short while. 1st place - Rock Giant - Eh?? You call this a final match? I have no idea why Square and Disney bothered to make him the last boss of the cup. Just lock onto a foot and whack away like there's no tomorrow. When he falls, get near his head and smack away. When he prepares to stomp, just jump and glide out of the way. You may never even need to heal. b. Gold cup (suggested Level: LV60) It may look bad, but the ice giant is not that hard. Make sure you have the guard ability attached. Get to the top of the stands and deflect his ice projectiles to do damage. When you do enough, he'll get knocked out, so you can get near and whack him. Eventually he'll awaken and just repeat the cycle. Heal when you need to. c. Platinum cup (Suggested level: LV75 minimum + Ultima Weapon + lotsa lotsa elixers) Everyones favorite badass villain is here, in his short but sweet role. Good 'ol Sephiroth comes here to whip you bad, and whip you bad he will. If you've been to the GameFaqs Boards, you'll know that the first thing people will say about him is that sword of his that seems to hit you from a few hundred meters away. Then they'll tell you that they pray for the moment that they can actually get his HP bar to even move. After that, they'll tell you how Sin Harvest reduced them to nothingness. On normal mode, I was able to defeat him at around LV 76 with the Ultima Weapon. First off, cast Aeroga and start whacking him and try to avoid his sword. When he stops, he'll summon fire from the ground. Avoid this by gliding around. Once you get around a whole HP bar down, he'll start to move around faster. One of his favorite attacks is to run around in a circle REALLY fast, then attacking suddenly. When this happens, glide around until he slashes. This will give you a small window to unleash a combo move. After some more HP bars (he has a LOT), prepare for sin harvest. This'll bring you down to 1 HP and 0 MP. You'll know when he's going to do it when he stops on one side and takes out his sword. You MUST hit him in approximately 2 seconds once he starts if you hope to cancel Sin Harvest. If you can't get to him in time, glide away and IMMEDIATELY use an elixer once it hits, or else he'll rush forward and take you out. It will definietely take you a while, but be patient and wait for your opportunity to strike. Use your head and fight smart if you hope to take out the toughest boss in the game. 6. Item Synthesis This is just like the one found in FFIX. Some people tend to take item synthesis in other games for granted, but here it's very important to get the best equipment, including the best weapon. The following list was made not by me, but by both Nohcra and Samuel Thorne. All credit for this list goes to them. A very useful list indeed. These locations are after Hollow Bastion and the harder heartless have been released. Lucid Shard --- Shadow --- Various worlds Lucid Gem --- Gargoyle, Wight Knight --- Halloween Town Lucid Crystal --- Dark Ball --- Various worlds Spirit Shard --- Soldier, Large Body --- Agrabah Spirit Gem --- Air Soldier --- Wonderland Frost Shard --- Blue Rhapsody --- Wonderland Frost Gem --- Sea Neons --- Atlantica Thunder Shard --- Yellow Opera --- Wonderland Thunder Gem --- Aqua Tanks, Screwdrivers --- Atlantica Power Shard --- Power Wild, Bouncy Wild --- Deep Jungle Power Gem ---Pirate, Air pirate, Battle Ship --- Neverland Power Crystal --- Wyvern --- Various worlds Bright Shard --- Green Requiem --- Hollow Bastion (possible other worlds) Bright Gem --- Search Ghost --- Halloween town (other worlds as well) Bright Crystal --- Defenders --- Various places (Traverse Town Hotel has 3 in the hallway) Blaze Shard --- Red Nocturne --- Monstro (possible other worlds) Blaze Gem --- Fat Bandit, Bandit --- Agrabah Shiny Crystal --- Wizard --- Various worlds Gale --- Angel Star, Invisible --- End of the world (screen before final rest save point) Mysterious Goo --- White/Black/Blue Fungus --- Various worlds The portals at the end of the world are an excellent place to gather components: 1st portal --- Traverse Town --- 7 soldiers, 5 large bodies 2nd portal --- Wonderland --- 2 wizard, 2 red nocturne, 4 green requim, 2 blue rhapsody, 2 yellow opera 3rd portal --- Coliseum --- 2 defenders, 11 air soldiers, 4 wyverns 4th portal --- Deep Jungle --- 8 powerwilds, 6 bouncy wilds 5th portal --- Agrabah --- 9 bandits, 3 fat bandits 6th portal --- Atlantica --- 8 sea neons, 2 aquatanks 7th portal --- Halloween Town --- 6 search ghosts, 5 wight knights, 4 gargoyles 8th portal --- Neverland --- 4 pirates, 2 barrel spiders, 1 pot spider White Mushrooms are the prime source for mystery goo. They appear randomly in various worlds, and cannot be killed with weapons. You must hit them with the correct magic. Shivering --- Cast Fire Fanning themselves --- Cast Blizzard Light over their head --- Cast Thunder Floating in the air --- Cast Gravity Spinning around --- Cast Aero Laying on the ground --- Cast Cure Completely motionless --- Cast Stop (note, it doesn't matter which version of the spell you use. Fire, Fira, and Firaga all work for fire, etc) Once again, this list was made by Nohcra and Samuel Thorne from the GameFaqs message boards. All credit for this goes to them. 7. Secret Bosses From what I've fought, there are 2 hidden bosses in this game. One is the the sand boss in Agraba and the Phantom in Neverland. Compared to Sephiroth these two aren't as hard as him, but they still are very hard. a. Phantom Go to Neverland and put Peter in you party. Talk to Tink and she'll take you to Big Ben. On the way you'll get attacked by Phantom. I haven't beaten him myself, but I found out his sequence. You'll see under his robe a heart covered by a protective colored shell. Each color represents the magic or attack needed to do damage. Red means attack with fire. White with a physical attack. Blue with ice. Yellow with thunder. He tends to cast death on you that has a timer just like in the FF games. To counter this, cast stop on the clock on Big Ben to stop the countdown. It is the only known way to counter it's spell. Be sure to take a lot of mp restoration items with you. b. Sand Warrior thingy Talk to the Carpet in Alladin's house. It'll bring you to the desert where you get waylaid by the big sword wielding thing. At the beginning he casts silence. No item or spell counters this. The only way is to destroy his hands. Only then will the spell disappear. Sometimes he goes into the ground and brings his tail up like a scorpion. You can attack the scorpion tail, but frankly it's too fast too hit, so try magic instead. He'll also summon a force field around it, which is invincible to normal attacks and can only be destroyed with spells. When it goes down, start attacking him again. Make sure to bring lots of mp and healing items. 8. The Secret Ending Not really much of a secret. It's just an extra clip they show you, but to avoid spoilers I won't way what it is. To get it you'll need to have accomplished the following: Get all 99 Dalmatians Lock all the keyholes Win the Hades cup Get the Ultima Weapon ------------------ Credits ------------------ Jeff "CJayC" Veasey for making the biggest site on the web for Game help. Nohcra and Samuel Thorne of the GameFaqs message boards for letting me use their item list on my FAQ. All the guys and gals on the KH boards for all their help. Thank Ya!!
