Author's Note: What you are about to read is probably something quite different from what you've read before. For those who read the first version of this piece of fanfiction, think of this as Version 2.0. I've gone through the story with scrutinizing eyes and cleaned up all of my grammar. In addition, I've added new scenes, new dialects for the villagers of Tempe, plus a whole new chapter. For those of you who are coming across this for the first time, I believe a brief explanation is in order. When I finished Dragon Warrior IV for the first time, I was overwhelmed by how incredible the game was for a Nintendo game. No other game that I had played before it utilized such subtle plot elements in a way this one did. I felt compelled to share the story of the game with as many people as I could. However, I wanted not only game players to read the story but non-game players as well. In effect, I've written this story so even someone who has never heard of the word Nintendo can understand and appreciate it as much as any fan of Dragon Warrior. This story is my interpretation of the events that occurred during the game. Instead of just a literal interpretation, though, I've only utilized the basic game plot to create a story with more details and character growth than the 8-bit cartridge could ever have accomplished. In effect, there will be many things that were not present in the actual game itself. New characters and scenarios in which I've created (so are owned by me) are used to bring to you a much grander adventure. As it stands, my novelization of Dragon Warrior IV is far from completion. However, this section of it easily stands on its own without leaving the reader confused about previous events (none of which have any bearing on the story or the game) or future events since this story more or less has a satisfying ending. If anyone is interested in more of my work, I can be reached at brain-wave@excite.com. I have finished (although currently editing as well) and of . Of course, Dragon Warrior IV and all its characters are property of ENIX of America. Everything I've added to this story, though, is my own. If you are unsure of what is what, feel free to give me a shout and I'll be happy clarify. Christian A. Ciccone (~)
