Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World

To date, the Nintendo Wii has not exactly been a hotbed for RPGs. Namco Bandai is hoping to help change that later this year with a direct sequel to Tales of Symphonia, subtitled Dawn of the New World.

Dawn of the New World takes place two years after Tales of Symphonia. The game will feature the original's cast along with two new characters, Emil Castagnier and Marta Lualdi. During this adventure, the crew meets up with Ratatosk, lord of all monsters. Not only does Dawn of the New World offer the traditional Tales experience, but it will feature a new monster capturing system. This system will allow playeres to capture, train, and evolve over 200 monsters for use in combat.

Considering how big of a fan-favorite Tales of Symphonia is, a Wii follow-up is not all that surprising. With the original cast coming back, a whole new gameplay element, and additional characters to fall in love with, Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World is shaping up to be a very popular RPG during the second half of the year. Points of View Curator, Adriaan den Ouden is "completely giddy" to be able to get his hands on this before the year is out. Currents columnist Oliver Motok is thrilled by the fact that "the game looks even more epic than its predecessor." The hype is here. All that's needed now is a release date.
