Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes

Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes is a hidden gem that exploded onto the DS back in 2009. This puzzle/tactical RPG hybrid from Capybara, the creators of Critter Crunch, is one of the most addictive titles to hit the DS. While light on story, the gameplay is solid and will have players constantly gunning for that perfect strategy. While it might seem more a puzzle game than an RPG, characters do have hit points, experience points, and spells. It's a hybrid for certain, but we don't care, because it's amazingly good.

Clash of Heroes is broken into chapters, each with its own central character. Each character is unique, requiring new strategies each time a character begins and in that the story supports the gameplay. Combat is fairly straightforward, but the game does offer a fun challenge. This is especially true of the boss fights. Bosses require more thought, forcing players to complete objectives or battle moving enemies. It's a small touch, but it helps combat stay fresh. With multiple characters, creative elite units, and tons of enemies to battle, this is one creative little game that came out of nowhere. We are thankful Capybara decided to venture into the RPG genre to create one of RPGamer's favorite DS games.
