Sea Dogs II
Avast ye mateys! Even RPGamer landlubbers will get a kick about Sea Dogs II, a game based on the trials of war at sea in 17th century Carribea. Sea Dogs II, like other newer RPG titles, mixes a variety of styles of games. This particular time, the RPG genre gains simulation and strategy elements to add a sequel to a unique game and initiate Sea Dogs as a series.
Because Sea Dogs II takes place on the open sea, the artists have made it point to make the setting as realistic as possible. Ships are highly detailed, with sharp high-resolution textures, and ships, pieces of land, even clouds and the sun make their visual impression on the choppy sea. Battles can take place in several different ways, including mutiny-style on-deck battles, and ship to ship battles; weather and other conditions such as rain or thunderously evil sea storms can drastically change the way fights are done.
Come later this year, Sea Dogs II will invade the oceans of the American game market to see if it can stand tall against the sheer flood of PC RPGs. If it can launch playing as well as it looks from demos, it should be a solid hit.
