Suikoden III (PlayStation 2)
Easily one of the most anticipated games this year, Konami's third chapter in the Genso Suikoden series takes the best parts of the first two games, expands upon them, and brings them into a robust 3D world on PlayStation 2. The new title allows players to choose from four characters in the beginning, and then you can either follow that one character along the entire game or switch to another as their paths cross many times.
Those familiar with the PlayStation titles will feel right at home with the expanded home base system, the huge war battles, the one-on-one duels, and the recruiting of up to 108 characters into your party. Those who played the first two titles are also in for many awards, as not only do previous characters return for either short cameos or more extended visits, but if you beat the second game, you can actually import your older PlayStation game file to enhance the new title, just as the first title did to the second.
If you are a fan of this series, this will be everything you have been waiting for and more, and most of the staff of RPGamer are fans of this series. If you aren't a fan of the series, check out this title, and it might just inspire you to look the first two up. For more information on Suikoden III, you know the drill by now. Here's our E3 impression. Suikoden III should be in stores on November 12th.
Finally we arrive at the top.
