Nintendo's GameCube is still a bit too wet behind the ears to boast a solid RPG lineup of its own, but some well done ports of Dreamcast titles are there this year to make Lost Kingdoms a bit less lonely.
 |
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance
Take one of the most popular PC RPG titles and convert it into a game for the PlayStation 2, then take its success and port it to the other consoles. Nintendo GameCube owners have the chance to experience Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, which went gold before its release on November 19th for the console. The game features a powerful mix of traditional AD&D elements and hack-and-slah action, plus the ability to adventure with a friend through the world of the Sword Coast.

Evolution Worlds
Evolution Worlds brings the Dreamcast series to the Nintendo GameCube, where RPGamers scour through endless hordes of randomly-generated dungeons. Parties in the game have the ability to use the elite "CyFrames" in battle, which help enhance the game's turn-based system. As one of the first traditional console RPG's for the GameCube, Evolution Worlds mixes irreverent humor, references from the earlier games in the series, and reduced loading times to make for an interesting experience.

Lost Kingdoms
The first original GameCube RPG delivers up an exciting and innovative system of magic where cards are uses to attack and summon allies in real time. For a bit of extra fun, there's even a two player mode where you and a friend can show off your skills in a one on one duel.

Phantasy Star Online: Episodes 1 & 2
The GameCube's first RPG just also happens to be its first online game as well. After enjoying success on the Dreamcast, Phantasy Star Online: Episodes 1 & 2 make the jump onto Nintendo's next-gen system. The meat of the game lies in its online multiplayer mode where you can join up with other players from around North America to help you solve puzzles and watch your back. Of course there is a single player mode as well meaning the latest version of Phantasy Star Online can be enjoyed offline as well.
