POKEMON A.R. ------------------------ The Hidden Nation Series ------------------------ Walkin' Trouble (PROLOUGE) PART 6 Tyler's love life has gotten pretty complex; as if there were some plot to make it that way... but that's impossible! -- Isn't it? ========================================================================= Jesse's house, that night ------------------------- "I'm home daddy!" Jessica said, putting her bike on the rack next to her family's garage. "Hiya sweetie." her father said, sitting up from some of his pokŽmon in the back yard, "How are you?" "Just radical." she said with a wicked grin. Her father didn't get the in-joke only Jesse knew, so he replied only with a smile and a nod. Jesse walked past her father as she went up the stairs to her parent's room. "How did it go?" Jesse looked up at her mother. The woman of the house was very beautiful, and Jesse owed her Green eyes and rich, red hair to the genes she'd gotten from her. "It went great," Jesse said with an evil smile, "you were right, he was totally into it." "I told you," her mother said, "men LOVE to feel special... it's even possible they like it more than we do; just keep it up and that other girl shouldn't be a problem. You'll see Jessica, once he realizes what you can give him, he'll eat out of your hand." "I gotta say mom," Jesse replied, "it worked really well. I mean, he even clobbered that witch Cassidy in a pokŽbattle for me. I have to say this is the first time I was glad to see her." "Was it REALLY *that* good?" her mother asked in almost fiendish delight, "tell me everything, and spare no details." Jesse explained the afternoon, even the tingles she felt when Tyler wrapped his arms around her on the bike and taking VERY special care to give her mother a play-by-play of the pokŽbattle between Tyler and Cassidy. "There was just one thing mom." Jesse added, "You said that he'd, well, try to get into it, you know, take advantage of the opportunity to get fresh and all... but, he didn't. In fact, it felt like he was trying to keep a distance." "Well honey," her mother said, "maybe he and the other girl are closer than you think." "No," she said, "he told me they weren't anything, and I don't think that's it. He was... uh... I... I dunno, he seemed like he liked it but it wasn't right for him just then... or something. I gotta sound so dumb..." "Ahhh." her mother said. "You know what it is?" Jesse asked, hoping she had reason to think something was up. "Yes Jessica," her mother said, "and if it is what I think it is, you're going to have to be very careful." "Why?" she asked. "Because," Jesse's mother went on, "he'll steal your heart and you won't know he's done it until you're so sickly in love you'll have trouble eating, sleeping, and concentrating on anything." "Wow," Jesse said, "are guys like him *that* good?" "He doesn't need to be 'good' at anything," her mother said, "he just needs to be himself. You have to understand sweetheart, there ARE some nice guys out there... but they're becoming extinct and those still around are getting snatched up very quickly. I mean, look; he has two young women fighting for him already." "But that doesn't explain why I need to be careful." she said, "I mean, it's not like I'm trying to get married or anything. I mean, I don't even want to get that involved--" "And that's how I want to keep it." her mother said, "I don't want you getting involved with a guy so soon other than the occasional trophy girl-toy. You have to plan these things Jessica, and although this is good practice for later, rushing into these things will ruin your life." "I understand mom," Jesse said, "but this is a lot of fun. I'm pretty sure it's OK. I mean, he isn't really interested, and if I keep an eye out--" "Just remember to keep that eye out." her mother said. "Yes mother." Jesse said. "One more thing." she said, "This isn't as if the world will end if you don't get this guy; if it comes to it, just back off." "Well..." Jesse began, not wanting to question her mother, "I..." "What is it sweetheart?" "Was it like this with you and daddy?" Jesse asked, not wanting to voice her REAL concerns and desperately trying to change the subject. "Jessica, do you know how I say I loved you before you were born?" "Yah." she said. "I mean that." her mother said, "Before I even met your father I knew what you'd look like and what you'd be like. As soon as I was ready to just 'settle down' I thought about my first child. I knew you'd be a beautiful little girl and would grow up to be just like you are now. And I went out to find someone that could give me the life, and the little girl, I wanted." "Sounds kinda... I don't know..." Jesse said, "I mean... I know you mom, and how you can do just about anything... but it sounds like you needed a guy. Isn't that kinda..." "Stereotypical?" her mother said, "Jessica, you're going to learn that everyone needs someone. I want you to remember that because I don't want you to ruin something because you were afraid of becoming a stereotype. If you like whoever, and they like you, and you both have a chance at happiness, go for it. As for children... *I* ALWAYS knew I'd have at least one child. And it was *my* choice to get 'married' to have one." "I think I understand." Jesse said. "Good." her mother went on, "But to answer your question, I looked for someone who would be a good father to you, would have sense enough to help me help you through some of life's problems, and someone who was attractive." "You didn't think about love?" Jesse asked, trying to get away from the notion of her father as a sexual object. "I didn't have to." her mother answered, "I fell in love with him, not realizing it." "Like what you warned me about?" Jesse asked. "Absolutely." she replied, "Which caused me no end of trouble as your father was seeing someone else." "*NO*..." Jesse said, amazed, "I thought you and daddy were--" "No, we weren't love at first site." she said, "Well, *I* felt it but he didn't. In fact, when I first saw him he and his girlfriend were on a date." "What did you do?" Jesse asked. "I was only able to see him then because of the party we were all attending." she said, becoming lost in memory, "He and his girlfriend-- her name was..." "Her name *was*?" Jesse asked out of curiosity. "Rachael... Harmous -- or something." her mother said, "Anyway, I'd gotten in some small talk with him and I KNEW he was the one. Afterwards, I found out everything I could about him, and found out he worked with pokŽmon like I did and that he'd managed his money very well from the working poor level his family had, using his trainer winnings to invest and make it to what they now call upper middle class. "Daddy's very smart." Jesse said. "Another reason I went after him, my children deserved good genes." she said, "And along those lines of thinking, I felt he deserved the finer things in life. I started seeing him with the premise of helping to get him his own pokŽmon Gym, which I made good on a month or so before you were born. Anyway, I took every moment with him I could get. Eventually, I'd caused enough problems with Rachael and your father over working towards a Gym to have her stop seeing him. She, of course, had meant it to get your father away from the Gym work and with it: me, but your father, not getting my intent, didn't see why he should've. A little later, I told him how, while we'd been working to get him his own Gym, I had 'fallen' for him. And, after keeping Rachael away from your father long enough, he was mine. We got married, and a couple of years later, I was carrying you home from the hospital." "When did Daddy start loving you back?" Jesse asked. "It was when I was working to get him a Gym," her mother replied, "I used no small amount of money working to get it for him. Once he found out the full extent of money I was spending, he wanted to know why. I told him, honestly, that I wanted to make him happy. He later told me that was when he started having feelings for me." "One more thing mom. Jesse said. "Make it quick, it's time for bed." "You were spending all that money to help dad BEFORE he was interested in you, right?" Jesse asked. "Yes." "How did you know it'd pay off?" "Well," her mother said, "because I was the most dedicated. I wouldn't stop until your father and I were wed, and I was willing to go that extra length to get him. Not having him wasn't an option. Not only is that good for getting a guy, but it's good for anything you want in life; never give up!" "I'll remember to be dedicated." Jesse said as she moved to leave, "Goodnight mom, I love you. "Love you too Jessica." her mother said, giving her a hug, "Do me a favor and tell that father of yours to get inside before he freezes to death, OK?" "Sure mom." Jesse said as she went downstairs to remind her father and, after which, go to bed. * * * Jesse laid in bed, her mind not allowing her to get any sleep at all. She'd thought about what her mother had told her about getting what you wanted... and about what she HAD NOT told her mother about what she was thinking about Tyler. She'd never met any boy as mature as him (which was a sad statement, which Jesse would've realized had she knew about Tyler's incident with Jackii and the dirt-clod fight), she'd never known she could be so... happy? Excited?... around a guy. Jesse got out of bed and opened the window to her side. She looked out over the long valley that was her backyard. It was nice, she had to admit, the smells of hundreds of flowers coming in through the window and the moon shining on the grass which waved in the wind, almost like water near a beach. Jesse sighed. She couldn't explain it let alone get it. All her life all she'd ever wanted to do was go adventuring through the world like her father once had. She laughed at her mother when she'd tried to get her to wear the fancier dresses and had laughed even harder when her mother brought up men (just older boys in Jesse's opinion)... and now Jesse found herself not only thinking about doing something other than what she'd planned-- rather, she found herself plotting with her mother over a guy's affections! Jesse had a thousand different thoughts running through her head that night... but every one of them had to do with Tyler-- whether they were good thoughts or bad ones. Eventually, she was tired of staring out and letting her thoughts eat at her head. She closed the window, but left the shade open so the moonlight could shine through. She then gave an affectionate pat to Ekan's pokŽball, and slid back into bed. She'd worry about Tyler tomorrow when she tagged along at his Soccer practice. * * * Jackii, after about 3 hours of crying, talking, and some yelling, had managed to get her parents from freaking out. She was unpleasantly surprised to hear about how her father had gone to Tyler's and harassed Ms. Harmon, and after some MORE arguing and crying, managed to calm everything down in that area too and even got her father to call the orphanage and apologize. In the end, she promised her parents not to spend so much time with Tyler (where they felt was the cause of the problem) and they agreed to let her sort it out herself since, as her parents had proved, she was really the only one who COULD resolve this specific problem. Once everything was said and done, Jackii laid in bed, the day having been FAR too much for her in the end... She didn't feel it was very fair, her parents dumping on an already PAINFUL situation in their attempt to help, but it couldn't be helped, she guessed; parents always meddled, it's just that, being human, they made mistakes sometimes when they did it. And then, on top of this, even though she'd gotten through the worst of the major foul-ups, she STILL was suffering through Tyler's spout of immaturity/lack of romantic interest-- "Why me?" she said aloud. Still, perhaps this wasn't as hard as she thought-- after all, she'd be going to Tyler's Soccer practice tomorrow, maybe she could get some normalcy between them so she could be around him and, slowly, get him to notice her... Or at least NOT notice Jesse. * * * Sunny Town Orphanage, Midnight ------------------------------ Unable to sleep, Tyler went to the back steps to see his pokŽmon when he'd awakened, to his surprise, to find Psyduck had not stayed in his basket. He decided he'd see what was up and say goodnight to his pokŽmon when. He found them all talking together, all still by the steps where they'd been before. He found them chatting merrily along and then, in a moment of rather odd clarity, Tyler had a thought. "Guys?" she said interrupting them. Squirtle, Poliwhirl, Psyduck, and Pidgeotto all looked up at him, somewhat surprised to see him awake. "I just wanted to say goodnight," Tyler said, "but now... Look, I had a 'chat' with Pidgeotto today, and although I've *always* known you were smarter than some people thought, I know now you're WAY smarter than you let on and that you can talk and everything." "Well duh." Squirtle said in pokŽlanguage. All Tyler heard, was a "Squirt-Squirtle" out of the water pokŽmon. "Listen I," Tyler said, "... I wanna learn how to understand you guys. I mean, REALLY understand." "Is that even POSSIBLE?" Pidgeotto asked Squirtle in pokŽlanguage. "TECHNICALLY..." Squirtle said back, "but, I mean, I think only half a dozen humans could EVER fully understand pokŽmon, and that's just some old stories the humans found only through old scrolls and stuff other old humans wrote-- who knows if it's even true! And even then, those humans were with pokŽmon for years according to those stories, and--" "I can't do it, can I?" Tyler asked, interrupting the poke-talk. "Whoa." Squirtle said in poke-language, taken aback "I knew he could *kinda* get the idea of what I was saying, but--" "See?" Pidgeotto said, "He's come this far, why not try?" "I hate to interrupt," Poliwhirl said, "but I must say that this seeming adeptiveness may be the full scope of the trainer's prowess..." "Meaning?" Pidgeotto said. "This is as good as he gets." Squirtle said, translating. "So we aren't going to do anything?" Pidgeotto asked. "I do not feel that would be beneficial." Poliwhirl said. "Yah." Squirtle said, "Besides, if he told everyone he COULD talk to us, they'd think he was nuts!" "So!" Psyduck said, piping up, "He's our trainer and he's askin' nice!" "Why don't we give it a shot?" Pidgeotto said, "If we can't teach him, then there we have it... but if we can, just think." Tyler noticed the four pokŽmon stop chattering. They all turned and looked at him. "Squirtle-Squirt Squirtle." The turtle pokŽmon said. "Then we'll try?" Tyler said, full of optimism. Squirtle smiled at his companions. "This could work." he told them, impressed with Tyler's grasping of the meaning of his last statement. * * * "Ball." Tyler said. "Squirtle." The tiny turtle pokŽmon said back with a smile. Tyler had worked most of the night with his pokŽmon, trying to get the meaning of the words his pokŽmon spoke... well, it wasn't really the meaning of the 'words' per say, it was more the meaning of the tones and thoughts behind the "Squirtle"-ing and the "Psy!-Psyduck!"-s. Still, Tyler felt like his brain was PAINFULLY expanding (which was the tell- tale sign he was learning) when he had gone to bed that night, and when he'd headed out that morning after a quick breakfast, taking his four pokŽmon along, he'd promised himself he'd keep at it. He'd managed to get a small grip of a few of the words his pokŽmon spoke, but for the most part, Tyler had only been able to get the general idea, not the meanings. Still, Squirtle was optimistic. Tyler had gotten the last 12 out of 74 words and his streak was nothing short of hot... that being that compared to most humans, who couldn't guess a single word if it were out of 1,000. Nonetheless, by the time human and pokŽmon all arrived at the Soccerfeild, NONE felt like doing much of anything other than taking a rest to let their brains recover. And much to their despair, the trouble began as soon as they got there. "Hi Tyler." Jesse called from the side. Tyler turned to see the red head sitting in the shade with a small cooler. Just as Tyler waved and began to walk toward her, however, he was called yet again. "Tyler!" Jackii called. Tyler did an about-face to see Jackii running up to him. "Squirtle..." the tiny water pokŽmon said. "I hope not." Tyler said, thinking he got the idea of Squirtle's comment. The two girls seemed to move extra fast as they approached Tyler, but in the end, Jesse managed to get there first. She quickly opened the cooler and offered Tyler an electrolyte fruit drink mix. "Uh..." Tyler said, looking at it. "These rock," Jesse said, "they replenish EVERYTHING you lose exercising and they taste killer." "Can I have one?" Jackii asked. "Uh..." Jesse said, unable to conceal the other 10 drinks in the cooler. "Couldja Jes?" Tyler asked, not seeing Jesse's apprehension for the sheer jealousy it was. "Of course, there's extras after all." Jesse said, staring at Jackii with VENOM in her eyes. Jackii took it with a smile and began to chug. She'd planned to treat Tyler to something to drink later but she couldn't if Tyler filled up on *THIS* stuff. As Jackii went on with her spiteful behavior, Jesse took the opportunity to talk with Tyler. "Major practice?" she asked Tyler. "First of *this* season." Tyler said, "I'll be in this league till a year after next and I was here last year so it's not like I'm not into it, I just gotta work back into my groove. "Oh." Jesse said, not terribly interested but happy with every second she had with Tyler that Jackii didn't. Jackii pitched the empty bottle and stood nearby, trying to look neutral. "Thanks for the drink." she told Jesse sweetly. "No problem." Jesse said back. Tyler felt this was going well... no one was trying to grab at him and they weren't fighting, maybe it'd be O.K.! * * * Having been taken to the side with the other player's pokŽmon, our favorite pokŽmon quartet began to watch the sport their trainer loved so very much and spoke endlessly about: "Sock-her." Pidgeotto, hoping Jesse was coming there to put the "her" in "Sock-her", was disappointed to find that no annoying human females were in fact, "socked." Still, Pidgeotto decided, it seemed fun enough, and it was better than playing yet ANOTHER game of cowboys and indians with the kiddesses back at the orphanage. While Pidgeotto and his other two pokŽmon pals watched the practice with "ooow's and aaaaaah's, Squirtle watched a DIFFERENT game, his only reaction to which was to nod at the spectacle in front of him. "They're gonna eat him alive." he told the other pokŽmon out of earshot of their trainer. Pidgeotto turned to see Jesse and Jackii practically hissing at each other. "Are you SURE they aren't fighting over who gets to mate Tyler?" Pidgeotto asked her turtle friend. "Surely they must," Poliwhirl said, looking over now, "look how fiercely they quarrel for him!" "Naw," Squirtle said, "I'm pretty sure ALL humans, save for a few exceptions, are all nuts." For the past half an hour, Jesse and Jackii had been doing everything short of hitting each other to get every second they could be with Tyler in some way; this ranging from calling to him to tripping each other up while trying to get to Tyler between plays. "Surely our trainer must notice this!" Poliwhirl said. "Guess not," Squirtle said, seeing Tyler playing merrily along, "but the good news is the two little vixens'll get a talking to by the alpha female." "Who's that?" Psyduck asked, only now paying attention to something besides the ball's bounces off of the grass. Said alpha female was Coach Hannigan, who was sick to DEATH of the constant bickering between the two girls-- already, several plays had been ruined because of and several parents had complained about the girls constant bickering and had had just about as much as she could take. As Jesse and Jackii sat, yet again arguing (this time about who had the right to sit closer to the field) a shadow fell over them. They both looked at each other and then above them to see a very tall, very tough Soccer Coach/Mom. "Is there some kind of problem here *ladies*?" Mrs. Hannigan said as she pushed back a bit of almond colored hair out of her eyes. "Problem?" Jackii said, nervously. "No, no problem." said Jesse, suddenly afraid. Both girls sweatdropped as the Soccer coach's face suddenly became fire RED. "DON'T HAND ME THAT!!!" she yelled suddenly, "YOU HAVE BOTH DISRUPTED THIS ENTIRE PRACTICE SESSION!" "Uhhh..." Jackii said. "We're like... sorry." Jesse managed. "*Sorry* doesn't cut it ladies." Coach Hannigan said, "WE only get three hours a session an outing, and you've ruined a 1/3 of it. So what do I do for these kids who haven't gotten decent team practice here today? HMMM?" Before either girl could answer the coach's rhetorical[not meant to be answered by the persons being asked it] question, she grabbed both and brought them to the field. * * * The pokŽmon looked on from their side place on the grassy knoll. Pidgeotto cooed softly. "*NOW* Tyler'll see what's going on with the head lady so mad." Pidgeotto told her companions happily. "No he won't." Psyduck said, pointing to the side where Tyler, beyond earshot, was getting some water. "Why us?!" Pidgeotto said, falling on her back. Would Tyler EVER notice? Squirtle grinned with evil glee and rubbed his paws together. "That's O.K., by the looks of this, this is the LAST time those two will try this *here*." Coach Hannigan was now dragging the two girls into the middle of the field kicking and PLEADING. Chuckling, Squirtle went to the side post to get a good view, leaving the other 3 pokŽmon alone to view the feuding human female's fate. At least, until, Psyduck was pushed aside by a moving ball of pinkness. "Oh no!" a voice said, also in pokŽlanguage and from behind the remaining three, "I TRIED to warn her!" Pidgeotto and Poliwhirl turned to see a Jigglypuff; more accurately, Jackii's Jigglypuff. Psyduck, fortunately, wasn't TOO angry at Jigglypuff... the shove had ACTUALLY helped get him out of the trance the Soccer ball's bouncing had put him in. "Hi there!" Psyduck said nicely as his fellow pokŽmon looked at the Jigglypuff and, recalling Squirtle's tale, deduced it was Jackii's Jigglypuff. "H-hello." Jigglypuff said, "Sorry there. You must by Tyler's pokŽmon, I remember you Poliwhirl; and the Squirtle you had with you -- he was Tyler's too, right?" "Yes, ... well," Poliwhirl said, being in the awkward position of polite conversation with both a battle companion AND the pokŽmon whose owner was giving Tyler such grief, "I must say that I am honestly happy to see you are well." "Thanks." Jigglypuff said. "What did you mean just now," Pidgeotto asked, "about 'warning her'?" "I meant my trainer." Jigglypuff said, "She's so mad about the red headed daemon she can hardly stand it. If she had her way she'd beat her up or something... I TRIED to warn her before she came here today that her being mad might get her into trouble, but she wouldn't listen!" "They never do..." Pidgeotto told the Jigglypuff reassuringly. "Yesssss," a new voice said, "never listen to us pokŽmonnnn..." The four turned to see yet ANOTHER wondering pokŽmon in the side area come towards them; this time, it was Jesse's loaned Ekans. "You..." Jigglypuff said, puffing up in anger as it focused it's attention entirely on the snake-like pokŽmon. "Uh oh..." Pidgeotto said. "You..." Ekans said, "you pinky... your trainer hurt master... got her in trouble..." "YOUR trainer doesn't know when to butt out." Jigglypuff said, "She knew trainer Tyler before your *Master* even met him." "Your master knew him first," Ekans countered, already venomously defending his master, "but mine knew him better." "Oh no." Pidgeotto said, seeing the situation escalate. "Your trainer has no right to ruin my trainer's life." Jigglypuff said, almost ready to beat on the snake. "Your trainer weak..." Ekans said, coiling up with a hiss, "she not deserve him!" AS the two got ready to fight, Pidgeotto and Poliwhirl got in-between them, averting a nasty altercation. "BACK OFF!" Pidgeotto said, staring down Jigglypuff. "Cease..." Poliwhirl said, looking into the eyes of the hissing Ekans. The opposing pokŽmon looked at each other, willing the other dead... but it was a mute point with Tyler's pokŽmon blocking them; not that they'd ACTUALLY be able to keep them off of each other, but that it might've hampered their respective trainer's chances with Tyler if they injured his pokŽmon in the fight, so they stood down. "Can't you see what an influence that *girl* has!" Jigglypuff said to Pidgeotto and Poliwhirl, "She's trying to ruin our trainers' happiness together!" "Lies!" Ekans countered, "You KNOW Tyler likes master BETTER!" "OH SHUT UP!" Pidgeotto said, Poliwhirl TRYING to stop her but to no avail (he was acting as a living shield after all), "You wanna know the truth?" The feuding pokŽmon nodded, hoping to have victory over the other in whom Tyler wished to be with. "He likes NEITHER!" Pidgeotto said. "Not master... OR pinky's master?" Ekans said. "NO!" Pidgeotto said angrily, "Your '*MASTERS*' attention is NOT wanted; in fact, Tyler not only doesn't want it, he hates it! You trainers are HURTING him through this stupid fighting... And I hope he sees them for the lying sneaks they are!" Ekans hissed at his natural prey while Jigglypuff spoke up. "It's not like that!" he protested, "She loves him with all her heart!" "Your trainer has a sick way of showing it." Pidgeotto said. "Master Tyler make master HAPPY!" Ekans spoke up. "And she makes him unhappy." Poliwhirl said to the snake. Jigglypuff and Ekans looked at the two pokŽmon between them and got calmed down-- after all, now the fighting was mute; it was no longer a matter of who had a right to Tyler since TYLER was the only one who had a right to decide who he went with. --That, of course, and the fact they'd both decided they do this when Tyler's pokŽmon WEREN'T in the way ALSO helped to calm matters. As the tempers died down, the pokŽmon quintet watched in silence as Jackii and Jesse were tied to separate goal posts and Coach Hannigan began explaining things to the players. "O.K. everyone!" Coach Hannigan called as Jesse and Jackii both struggled against their bonds, "We're gonna go some Goalie evasive kicking. As you can see, these two *volunteers* have decided, since they ruined so much of our practice time, to help us in this area... Now everyone form up and TRY to get the ball past the 'Goalies', no points for hitting them!" "IS USING US LIKE THIS *LEGAL*!?" Jesse called, as the lines of angry players formed, most with vengeful mischief in mind. "It's legal here in Sunny Town," Coach Hannigan said, "and the American states of Missouri and Kentucky." Jackii whimpered. "PLEASE don't get my face!" Jesse begged as Coach Hannigan gave the signal to start, "It's natural perfection!" As the two girls stood goalie for the next two hours, they were pummeled by balls while Tyler was called to the side with Assistant Coach Snider to work on his foot-work BEFORE he understood what was going on or where Jesse and Jackii had gone too. -- This was, of course, all to the pokŽmon's (ESPECIALLY Pidgeotto's) great dismay because there was a patch of trees between Tyler and the two girls, meaning her trainer was oblivious to what was happening. Pidgeotto: It's as if some force was TORMENTING ME! ...not allowing Tyler to notice. @o@ Poliwhirl: WHY MUST HE NEVER SEE?! WHY?! *:-0 @ <-see, swirl on tummy! Jigglypuff: OH!, POOR JACKII! :..{ Ekans: >sad< MASSSSSSTER!!! : [~~~~~~~ <-snake tongue, get it? Psyduck: >hypnotized< Ball goes bounce! 0o0 Jackii/Jesse: >yell out as Soccer balls pummel them< #=0 #=( Squirtle: >in answer to Psyduck< Yah... off of those two's faces! =] * * * Tyler was in a VERY good mood! After some foot work with the assistant coach he'd not only been able to improve his kick but had been told he was now in the running for star forward! Oddly enough, Jesse and Jackii had both disappeared when Tyler had been called to work on his side-kick, and he had found that odd (but a good thing; after all, they weren't drooling on *him*, right?) but had gone on anyway. When he'd finished, many of his fellow team mates had already left for home and Coach Hannigan had left with her car-pool to drop off some of her players, leaving him and the assistant coach which, after having packed up, left too. This left Tyler to find his would-be suitresses sucking down the electrolyte drinks and talking, to Tyler GREAT relief, friendly. "Well," Tyler said, "that was fun. Glad to see you two so happy." Jesse and Jackii turned, surprised to see Tyler, and both laughed nervously. "See anything weird?" Jackii spoke up, guiltily. "We mean, anything odd go on?" Jesse covered. "Odd? No. Why are you asking that?" Tyler said, confused, as Squirtle fell onto his side, legs in the air, "Can we just go now?" Jesse and Jackii joined Tyler as they walked... rather, Tyler walked a couple of steps, then having Jackii and Jesse fall onto him for support. "Ugh..." Tyler said, as Psyduck, Squirtle, Poliwhirl, and Pidgeotto all tried to help Tyler and his two human friends maintain balance, "Where to now ladies?" Jackii and Jesse NORMALLY would've been eager to get shoulder time with Tyler but the Soccer ball barrage they had both received cured them of any such thoughts-- at least for today. "Can we just go HOME?" Jackii asked, her 'innocent stop for soda after the game' plan forgotten. "Yah..." Jesse added, semi weakly. "What happened to you two?" Tyler asked, noticing the weakness now, as well as his friends' physical appearance, "I mean, you two have more sweat on you than *I* do!" Jesse and Jackii looked at themselves, then at Tyler, then each other, now noticing now the extent of sweat (which was from their underarms, around their collars, I mean, YEASH!) and facefaulted with a blue haze on their faces. "Gross..." Jackii managed. "Not very-- 'lady like', is it?" Jesse added. "You two are weird, so you get some slack." Tyler said. Both girl breathed sighs, and Squirtle and Pidgeotto beamed. Weird was bad for the two lil'vixens, which was good for Tyler in the pokŽmon's opinion. "Of course, if you weren't weird, you wouldn't fit in with me!" Tyler said happily, trying to cheer the two up. Both girl beamed at him, momentarily having hearts for eyes. "DOH!" Pidgeotto and Squirtle said together. "This is so unfair!" Pidgeotto squawked to her friend. "I think our next vocabulary words are going to be 'desperate', 'girls', and 'psycho'." Squirtle said, annoyed. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pikachu's Fanfiction Archive: http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Teahouse/1260/index.html Please email all submissions to: Sailorvoid@hotmail.com * * * PokŽmon is copyright 1995/1996/1998 Nintendo/Creature/Gamefreak Jackii Wipple and Tyler Trawets are internet creative property of Stewart Hart and the PokŽmon A.R. group.
