Ico Distant View Contest
Ico Distant View

It's time to get out your paints, pencils and digital tablets for RPGamer's latest Fanart contest, centered around Ico, Sony's forthcoming RPG title. While Ico promises to bring players a very unique adventuring experience, it also contains some amazing and beautiful scenic landscapes and game locations, filled with rolling hills, dark forests, crumbling castles and distant views.

In continuing this theme, our contest will focus on these scenes. Submissions for the contest should reveal beauty within the natural world through landscape and scenic imagery.

The submitted art is not required to reflect the art or locations found in Ico, but inspiration can certainly be found in RPGamer's coverage of the game, including a recent batch of screens and several movies. Also consider finding a scenic view in your area that can be used in your art, or simply find the distant views within your own imagination.

Send all contest entries to fanart@rpgamer.com. Be sure to specify in your subject line that your entry is a part of the Ico contest, and not a standard fanart submission. All rules listed in the Submission Guidelines still apply.

Official Contest rules:

1) Following the terms and limits described in the Fanart Submission Guidelines, create an original piece of arwork. This work should focus on scenery, landscapes, and locations. Characters are permitted to appear, but should NOT be the main feature of the work.

2) Entries must be attached to an email and submitted along with the artist's complete name, the title of the work, and at least two lines of commentary about the piece. If the image cannot be attached and sent via email, an included URL of the image's location is acceptable.

3) All entries must be sent to the specified e-mail address above by 11:59 PM PDT on September 19, 2001. Limit of one entry per person; multiple entries will be disqualified.

4) Prizes will be awarded based on quality of artwork, and by standards described in the Fanart FAQ. Winner will recieve one copy of Sony's Ico.

Contest begins Wedneday, August 8, 2001 and continues until Wednesday, September 19, 2001. The winning art will be featured in a following Fanart column.

Winners will be notified via e-mail by Monday, October 1, 2001. Winners will be required to reply to the e-mail within seven (7) business days, including his/her mailing information, or forfeit the prize. Except where prohibited, by accepting said prize, winners consent to the use of his/her name for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation. Allow 6-8 weeks for delivery of prizes. All prizes will be awarded. No cash or other substitution for prizes except at the option of RPGamer, for a prize of equal or greater value. Prizes won by minors will be awarded to a parent or legal guardian. Should the release of Ico be delayed for any reason, delivery of the prize may also be delayed.

RPGamer's decisions in all respects relative to the contest are final. By entering, you agree to be bound by these Official Rules. The Contest is offered by RPGamer. RPGamer is not responsible for incomplete, illegible, late, or misdirected e-mail. By participating and/or winning a prize, the winner releases RPGamer and its employees and sponsors from any and all liability with respect to any prize.
