Rise From Your Grave!

Life. Lifey lifey life life life. Gets in the way of things like RPGamer and Fanart. To be honest, I shouldn't have come back in the first place- dealing with living on my own for the first time, plus a new college and a new major was enough. I didn't have the time or energy to do Fanart justice. But, despite prior evidence and common sense, I went ahead with it anyway. And here I am, 3 months since my last update. Most of you are probably wondering if I'm still alive. I am, although there have been some points where it's been touch-and-go. However, it's time for me to move on. Farewell. Goodbye. Sayonara. Ciao. Aufweidasen. And so forth. Google will be taking over from me until a suitable replacement can be found. Go easy on the slime, for me, eh? With warmest affection, tinged with regret, Silkenray.

Google: Shame to see Silk here go, but at least she didn't fall down a bottomless pit like her predecessor. Anyway, as you probably know, I normally run Q&A around here, but I have been known to hold down the fort over here in the past from time to time. In any case, there should be a great big application posted on the main page by the time you're reading this tomorrow, so odds are you won't be having to put up with me for long. Well unless of course you read Q&A, or you apply and get hired and have me as a boss, but you know.

New Fan Art

"A quiet moment after battle."
Artwork by Aaron Connell
HUnewearl, Phantasy Star Online

Comments: I drew this up quick in my non photocopy blue pencil. Then scanned and colored in Photoshop7. Turned out rather nice! Spent most of my time on this one coloring.

Curator Comments: This piece stands out from the rest of this week's submissions due to the unique perspective. Nearly all fan art is a straight on portrait of a character, but when you aren't afraid to do a little foreshortening, breaking with tradition like this can really help a piece stand out from the crowd.

"Das Wandern"
Artwork by Landale
Elazul, Ragnarök Online

Comments: Here's my RO Character, Crusader to be - Elazul. In this picture she's actually a Knight, but I heard that Crusaders is a 2nd Class Job, and not a 3rd. So she'll be a Crusader.

Kinda like how this picture came out. The green set a great feeling for it, and instead of being her Sarcastic and berserking self, I wanted to draw her other side. Tried to work with CG here (I'm more for traditional medias) which was very fun. Also I tried a different type of coloring style than normal. A Bigger version is found at my RO fanpage.

Lyrics are from the wonderful anime .Hack//SIGN.

"Lady Yuna"
Artwork by Andraya
Yuna, Final Fantasy X

Comments: This is my first time drawing Yuna. I wanted to make her look more as she did in the FMV animation rather than her realtime character. Done with Prizmacolor colored pencils.

"Lulu"
Artwork by Lucien Aristis
Lulu, Final Fantasy X

Comments: I don't know what to say. This is Lulu, who looks too much like Angelina Jolie. Um. Drawn in 2B pencil, when I was very bored.

"Nash Latkje"
Artwork by Thanh Ha
Nash Latkje, Suikoden III

Comments: It is Nash one of the best character in suikoden. His power is great and daggers are kind of cool. I also didn't have time to draw a sword on his other arm.

"Squall"
Artwork by Tyler Milligan
Squall, Final Fantasy VIII

Comments: This is my first submitted work that I've done for this webpage. I wanted to share this particular piece of work of Squall from FF8. I think I captured Squall's essence in a particular way.I look forward to submit more artwork.

"Untitled"
Artwork by Lisa Rye
Lulu, Final Fantasy X

Comments: This is my first FFX fanart, the huge amount of detail and realistic style has always discouraged me until now (I usually only draw anime fanart). It deals with the great question, 'Okay, if Lulu's so dark and serious, why does she use such damn cute plushies to attack?'

Hope you like it!

"Vampy Sephiroth"
Artwork by Serena Samborski
Sephiroth, Final Fantasy VII

Comments: I drew this in Photoshop LE with my trusty tablet! It's just kind of a creepy picture of Sephiroth if he were a vampire. Nothing complicated. I'm starting to get used to sketching in an exclusively digital environment, probably from all the oekaki-ing. And I'm too lazy to fire up my scanner usually.

"You Shall Be As a God"
Artwork by Pigeon
KOS-MOS, Xenosaga

Comments: Hello again~! =D I am getting so impatient for Xenosaga ToT! KOS-MOS looks to be so awesome, I can't wait ;_; Anyhoo, thank you! =D

Bottom Crud

Well that sure took longer than I remembered. Anyway, I'll be getting back to a regular weekly update schedule during my position here as interim Fan Art Curator. I'll also most likely post every work submitted, provided you follow the submission guidelines. There's a few other things I plan to get done while I have the chair too. For those curious...

Recode the update templates.

Revamp the old submission guidelines/FAQ.

Convert the archives to the new format. (Unrealistic goal this one.)

Enact a cheesy gimmick you'll find either cute or hideous.

See you all next week!
