I bring you Greetings~!

Welcome to yet another installment of Art and Lore ... without Lore. ^^ First off, I'd like to apologize for the screw up I made of last week's update. m(__)m For some reason, I removed a CHUNK of the JavaScript at the beginning of the HTML file. Â_Â;;; This, obviously, caused unpleasant effects and errors on various browsers. I'm sorry I couldn't remedy this problem during the week since a) when I checked the update after it was uploaded, everything was working fine in both my Netscape and Internet Explorer (@_@;;;) and b) I didn't have the time. -_-;; Rest assured, everything is working perfectly in the archived version. Again, I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. m(__)m

Secondly, I urge you to read the section below. ^.^;

I Challenge Ye to a Game of THEMES!

Ya know, I'm thinking that it might be fun to do a "themed" update for next week. =D So what's the theme? Well, it's simple, really -- No Final Fantasy VI, VII, VIII, Xenogears or Genso Suikoden series fan art. ^^ Originally, I was thinking about a no Square fan art theme (yes, I know Suikoden ain't by Square >P) but then I realized that there ARE some Square RPGs that are typically shunned from the spotlight. ^-^; So basically, the task here is to doodle up and submit a drawing that does not feature scenes, scenery or characters from the aforementioned games (*hint* Ys *hint*). Er, I should make it clear that I have nothing against them in terms of the games themselves or seeing fan art for them. ^-^ It's just that I figure that it'll be interesting to have an update that features all artwork from other well or little known titles. ^-^ (*hint* Tales of Phantasia *hint*) BTW, it would be appreciated if you keep your scope to the games listed in the RPGamer Games section. ^^ Dang it, it really needs a Fire Emblem section. >P

Oh yes, in the case that you DO submit artwork for FFVI, VII, VIII, Xenogears, Suikoden or Suikoden II, your work won't be put through the evaluation (and selection) process until the following update. ^^

Oh yes #2, if you really despise the idea of a themed update, please tell me (no need to flame) and I won't ever do it again. ^.^

Knowing is Half the Battle (or G.I. Joe Says ...)

Cobra Commander Cobra Commander: DO NOT SEND FAN ART TO LORELAI! All works are to be temporarily submitted to kouryuu@chickmail.com. And please remember to refer to everything listed from the fan art policy onward when submitting your work~! Methinks, from now on, submissions that do not adhere to the rules WILL be ignored ...

Gung Ho Gung-Ho: You are invited to ponder away at Lorelai~ Just don't send her fan art though. =P Alternatively, you can also find her milling around at The Art Corner or its IRC channel, #artcorner, on Espernet. ^_^

Storm Shadow Storm Shadow: And just in case you have forgotten or have an immensely short-term memory: DO NOT SEND FAN ART TO LORELAI!.

Lady Jaye Lady Jaye: If, for some reason, you want to chat with, question, threaten, and/or sing to Kouryuu, then please forward your mail to kou@ica.net and not the Chickmail.com addy~. Thanks. ^-^

Serpentor Serpentor makes a note about dis update: The amount of FF fan art posted this time around had no influence on the decision to do a themed update for next time. =P The submissions seriously DID consist of about 70% FF works. o.o

Duke Duke says to visit these sites (=D): (The) Exploding Tree (me art page ^^), electric breakfast 3 (Bilan's archive page), and of course, The Ultimate G.I. Joe Cartoon Website. (Yeah, the images were from this site ^^)

Main Cast of Terranigma
" Saviours of Earth "
Artwork by LightSoul

Comments: As Kris Wolfe said, Terranigma IS a kickass game. This is a pic of the main cast of the game. There isn't much good art to work from, and most of it is in black and white, so my picture is as well. The game is pretty tragic, and the plot is one of my most favourite in RPGs.

Angela of Seiken Densetsu III
" Angela "
Artwork by Scootch

Comments: I just got done beating this game, and I don't think it's possible to beat this game in low level without a magic user.. whew, what a beutiful game with a terrible story. The artworks all done in Pen + Ink, Enjoy.

Aerith of Final Fantasy VII
" Aerith "
Artwork by Carolyn Chen

Comments: Aerith is always too cheery. She even looked kind of happy when Sephiroth killed her. Here she is looking something besides happy. I drew this a LONG time ago (like a year), and always ment to CG it. I finally got it done, though!

Rinoa Heartilly and Squall Leonhart of Final Fantasy VIII
" Rinoa and Squall "
Artwork by Kiraya

Comments: I drew this picture a while ago which began as a mere doodle. I began to notice a few nice things about it so I decided to send it. Done with Paint Shop Pro 5.0

Schala of Chrono Trigger
" A Moment of Reflection "
Artwork by Alia

Comments: Started over the summer, I recently went back to complete this picture. Done in color pencil, it is how I imagine Schala enjoying a book before her entrance in the game.

Highwind of Final Fantasy VII
" Lego Highwind "
Artwork by Capeton Yusshuk

Comments: I did it with many Black Legos one rather slow and boring Saturday morning in about 2 hours. Although updated, and slightly modified, this masterpeice currently enjoys it's roost above my Computer tower. I also just really like Airships

Quistis of Final Fantasy VIII
" Lioness "
Artwork by Meriko

Comments: This is the 3rd CG of my life, and I'm so danged proud of it!!! I adore Quistis, and her Save the Queen whip looked vaguely lion-tail-ish, so...here she is, in all her meow-a-licious glory!!! My apologies for using Lens Flare and Pixelating filters...I'm a novice at PhotoShop, and just went for the cheap stuff. ^^

Sue of Grandia
" Sue "
Artwork by Topo

Comments: This is a pic of Sue I drew right after I got the game on Christmas. I scanned it and then had my best friend Filia chan color it in Paint Shop Pro for me. I picked to draw Sue because she just looked so kawaii!(cute) She also is one of my favorite characters so far.

Locke Cole of Final Fantasy III/VI
" Life Shard "
Artwork by Laura

Comments: This picture is a ...er re-illustration of an idea I used for an older picture a little more than a year ago. In the older CG drawing I had a very close up shot of Locke peering into a slime green Phoenix esper outside of the cave he found it in (created in Painter when I was first learning to use it). But in this new one I zoomed out on Locke a bit and I tried to make his magicite a lot more magical looking, I also decided to make Phoenix red because I think that helps make it look more like "warm glowey you can bring your girlfriend back to life with me magic" than the green did ^_^ plus Phoenix is a supposed to be a fire bird. Overall I'm pretty pleased with the way it turned out (sure took me long enough), and I do think it's quite an improvement over the original.

Mt. Nibel of Final Fantasy VII
" Untitled "
Artwork by R.T Brown

Comments: It's been awhile since I've submitted anything. Lately I've taken a departure from doing the usual character fanart to doing fanart of places in Final fantasy VII. The first one here is Mt. Nibel in the morning. Programs used was Photoshop, painter 6.0, Bryce 4.0. Hopefully a couple of submissions of the city of Midgar will be following shortly.

Female Sprite of Legend of Mana
" Nostalgic Song "
Artwork by Mana

Comments: This is actually a several-month-old attempt at drawing CLAMP style (it's that infamous four-woman manga super-group). For some reason, I decided to try my hand at some LoM fanart. I'm not entirely displeased with the results, but I really wish I had a better CGing program! ;_; Paintshop Pro 4.12 just doesn't always do it. Ah well. The idea here was to have her look as if she were looking at the Mana Tree-- she's supposed to look somewhat in awe.. but uh, I think she looks almost more at peace or something. Hm.. well, draw your own conclusions, I guess. ^_^;; The words (I have a habit of putting poems/songs on my pictures for some reason..) are the translated (and non, in the background!) lyrics to the Legend of Mana opening/ending song.. which is a BEAUTIFUL tune! ^_^ In fact, all of LoM's music is beautiful... and it helped get this pic along. ^.^;;

Cloud and Tifa of Final Fantasy VII
" Cloud the Retard "
Artwork by Kellar

Comments: Just a quick, stupid little comic I did one night. It's got the big FF7 spoiler in it, but since everyone already knows it, it shold be okay. Enjoy.

Soushi and Kyoko of Thousand Arms
" Springtime! - Soushi and Kyoko "
Artwork by Sandara-3

Comments: No TA fanart?! here's Soushi and his sis Kyoko... i actually thought Soushi was a girl until i realized everyone was calling Soushi "him"...o_O; Thousand Arms is a great game, btw, a refreshing change from Squaresoft games ^___^

True Weltall of Xenogears
" Untitled "
Artwork by Rick Groce

Comments: After looking around for ages trying to find a pic of Grahf's Gear from Xenogears, I finally gave up and decided to make my own. Grahf's past and his influence in the game made me very interested in his Gear, plus it also looked extremely cool. :) This was all done in Bryce 3D, and then resized in Paintshop Pro.

Zotan of Final Fantasy IX,
Squall of Final Fantasy VIII, and
Cloud of Final Fantasy VII
" They are coming!!! "
Artwork by Keanof

Comments: FF9 are coming. I'm soooo happy!!! Zotan , Sotan, Zitan , Stan (or whatever his name is...) is cute! I like his clothes. Especially his bow '_~. I want it to be the first ff9 fanart on the web or at least on rpgamer (prayingAnyway this one was drew in photoshop5.5 ^_^)

KouKou note: The censoring of FFIX's main chara's face is for the benefit of those that refuse to get spoiled about the game in any form. =P Or did you truly think that he had a clown's face? >P Hirm ... maybe I should have censored the logo too ...
