Okei, so this is OLD but I still love it. To me, it is the epitome of RTS parody. XD (There is much truth in it as well~!) Any player of those so-called real-time strategy games like WarCraft, Command & Conquer, StarCraft, etc. should get a kick out of this. =D Oh, the recent anti-bunny article is quite hilarious too. ^-^

Greetings!

Once again, it is I, Kouryuu! =D And this time, I am here for an extended stay for I am zee substitute RPGamer fan art maintainer for the following few weeks. >D I shall do my best to maintain the quality standards that Lore has upholded for so long here. ^___^ Hopefully though, I won't scare off too many people with my bizarre personality as it is not my aim to alienate any of ye faithful patrons. ._.

So where is the usual hostess? As regular visitors/fan art providers know (or SHOULD know), Lorelai is taking a much needed and deserved R&R from her position here at RPGamer. As a result -- and this is important -- ALL FAN ART SUBMISSIONS ARE TO GO TO KOURYUU@CHICKMAIL.COM until she returns!!! *Ahem* Strange e-mail addresses aside, I'd just like to remind everyone to ALWAYS remember to follow everything from the fan art policy onward when submitting your work because a) it makes both my life and your life THAT much easier if you do, b) I'll be happy, you'll be happy, and everyone will be happy, and c) if ye don't, I have the utmost right to get severely disgruntled at you and NOT post up your fan art -- no matter how gorgeous and creative it might be. On that note, I LOATHE DIRECT COPIES/SWIPES OF FAN ART OR PROFESSIONALLY DRAWN ARTWORKS! If I discover that your submission is actually just a copy or traced piece that was done by someone else, I will IMMEDIATELY throw your piece into the trash. Copying and all is good for practice purposes but the credit does not belong to you. (Heh, thought you can get away with ignoring the rules just cuz I'm not Lore, eh? >D)

Now having said all that ....

An Army of Pondering Turnips from KouKou

*Ponder* How can I contact Lorelai?
You can STILL get a hold of Lorelai at lorelai@rpgamer.com for general chitchat, marriage proposals, or death threats. (The Hotmail one is closed now.) Just don't send her fan art though. =P Alternatively, you can also find her milling around at The Art Corner. ^_^

*Ponder* What if I want to get a hold of YOU for general chitchat, marriage proposals, or death threats?
If, for some reason, you DO want to write to me, then please forward your mail to kou@ica.net and not the Chickmail.com addy~. Thanks. ^-^

*Ponder* AIIEEE! Where did the Artist of the Week go?
I'm sorry but I'm just going to put Artist of the Week on hiatus until Lore comes back. ^^ Call me evil, stupid -- whatever you like -- but I personally don't like to choose anyone to spotlight since in my opinion, EVERY artist is the Artist of the Week. ^^ Instead, I give you Link of the Week where I will choose interesting sites for you to peruse. ^^

*Ponder* So what's with the turnip and all this pondering?
It's just this really strange joke (if you can even call it that) that evolved in #artcorner one night. It all began on Whiteboard when I drew a turnip similar to the one you see on the left ... and then, shortly afterward, it lead to THIS (96K, art by Keiiii, deranged dialogue by me). ^^;;; ... And the pondering? Well, look at my sig for this update and you'll see where THAT came from. XP (BTW, that's a Necromancer from Seiken Densetsu III.)

Yes, we're an odd bunch (or maybe it's just me) and I invite all of ye to join our insanity too! ^-^ How do you go about doing that? Just get yerself an IRC client & log onto any of the Espernet servers, such as good old irc.esper.net with port 6667 & then hop into #artcorner. ^_^ If you're lucky, you might just catch Lorelai in there too. ^_~

Pondering Necromancers from SDIII are cute

Edea of Final Fantasy VIII
" Edea "
Artwork by Shannon

Comments: I've always loved this vilioness' look. She had such potential along with Seifer but things never end up perfect. This was done in Photoshop and it took ages to figure out a way to do the feathers! still arent perfect but I'm proud of it.

Billy Lee Black of Xenogears
" Billy Black "
Artwork by Wulfume

Comments: i'm a bit behind when it came to getting my hands on this game. liked billy's design best because he's pretty what can i say? markers as usual, haven't used any computer programs anymore, i think my limited knowledge of CG just makes it look cheesy anyway.

Comments: cant say much bout this one...just look ? :P

Aerith/Aeris of Final Fantasy VII
" Wait, In Darkness "
Artwork by Ludi

Comments: OKay, this picture I painted with inks and on the PC, it took me ages to do, but I got there in the end. Yes, Aerith is my favourite character. Hmmm...I wonder what she's waiting for....Perhaps Cloud??? Please don't through up, I'm the romantic kind, perhaps you can tell! Looks kind of mysterious, doesn't she??? Ahhh. Now, if this pic gets cut off, I'll be cross....

Gilgamesh of Final Fantasy V
" Excalibur? "
Artwork by Charlotte

Comments: I felt like practising drawing SD characters, and I chose Gilgamesh because, well, I haven't seen any fanart of him. Ever. I think it turned out rather cute. ^_^ The textbox has been swiped from the game, in case that's not obvious.

This scene is taken from the part of the game where Gilgamesh learns that it's not a good idea to trust strange swords lying around in treasure chests. ^_^ If you want a soundtrack for this pic, please imagine Exdeath's theme playing in the background. ^_^

Carpainter of Earthbound
" Mister Carpainter "
Artwork by J.J. McCullough

Comments: I drew this picture using thick crayola markers so it would have that "Flash" esc look to it. Earthbound has always been one of my favorite RPGs and I could never understand why it was so often overlooked. This will be the first ever Earthbound fan art ever on RPGamer, but I hope others follow my lead and submit theirs, too.

Krelian of Xenogears
" "Then I myself shall create God!" "
Artwork by Andrill

Comments: This I think is one of the most emotional and dark moments in Xenogears, when Krelian discovers that Sophia is dead after the battle. He lost the one he hopelessly loved, he lost his case, his battle, he stands among his dying comrades, and this is the moment when he loses faith in everything. This is a moment when brightest scholar and bravest warrior becomes heartless mad scientist - one of the worst villains of the game - the mastermind of world destruction. I deliberately didn't do much editing on this pencil sketch - to keep it graphic and close to game's artwork style - just added some jazz in Photoshop.

Diablos of Final Fantasy VIII
" Dark Messenger "
Artwork by Phil W.

Comments: I was thinking of coloring this picture but I thought it would look better in B&W, besides, I'm not a very good colorer anyways. This picture took me a while so enjoy!

Reno & Rude of Final Fantasy VII
" Reno & Rude "
Artwork by Alia

Comments: I like Turks!
KouKou note: As noted by the *cough* thumbnail, there is a rather possible offensive theme at hand here. Now, if you DON'T know what yaoi is, please check the Yaoi/Slash Companion Guide at http://www.aestheticism.net/ for a definition (or look up "doujinshi" on eBay and you'll see a crap load of this stuff. >P). Otherwise, please view at your own risk.

Irvine Kinneas of Final Fantasy VIII
" Irvine Kinneas in Oil Pastels "
Artwork by Nutz

Comments: I found my old Oil Pastels in my old drawer, so I thought of trying it again. After 10 years of not using it, hehee, I think it's evident I need to practice some more (I think I lost my touch... -_-;;;). Maybe I should have just used charcoals on the sketch instead. :P

Led of Septerra Core
" untitled "
Artwork by Kouryuu

Comments: My RPG obsession as of late has been Septerra Core. @_@ And after going around to some SC sites, I noticed that there was a severe shortage of fan art for the game. =P So, as a result, here is Led. ^-^ Ironically, she's far from being a favourite character of mine since she is .... annoying. ~>_<~ I just doodled Led up since her chara design seemed insanely simple to work from (and it was, for the most part). ^.^; Grubb still remains one of my faves but I doubt I'll be doing any fan art of him any time soon ...
