Hello and Welcome!

Hoiya everyone! I'm terribly sorry this fanart update is so late. In order to make up for it, you'll see that there are over 20 works of fanart this update. But lately I've come to realized...I'm sure that both you and I are tired of my apologetic intros and far-spaced (well, more far-spaced than usual anyway) fanart updates. I have decided to remedy this solution by taking on several assistance, like my buddy in Fanfics, Amber Michelle, has done. I already have a few people in mind, as well as a plan that will allow me to take a temporary web break whilst page is still updated every week. If you believe you are very qualified to become a fanart assistant, please e-mail me. I warn you though, you've got to know HTML and have the TIME!

Thanks for all the nominations for the Best of 1999 Fanart Competition! Interaction is busy organizing the final voting process. Voting is now CLOSED; thank you for your participation! And, just like last week, here is a text file of the finalists. This is preview only, so NO QUESTIONS or anything yet!!! You should be thankful I let you see this file in the first place! *snort* =)

a Random Cookie from Lorelai

Once again, I am scouting for talented CGI masters who have a lot of time on their hands, and would like some recognition on both RPGamer and The Art Corner. ^_^ E-mail me if you are interested! I have some very challenging tasks for you to do...are you up to it??

A Cookie for your Thoughts

  • The Art Corner: Update Still functioning very well, I say. Check it out. We're also on IRC; come to esper.net and join #artcorner, the official channel for The Art Corner! I regret to say that we do NOT have any shortage of REFFs whatsoever, though ^_^;;; So hold your applications on that! Oh, and REFFs!!! Hurry up and register your nicknames, then e-mail me so I can set your REFF status in #artcorner!

  • Note to Fan Artists: DO NOT SEND YOUR FANART TO LORELAI@RPGAMER!!! Send to fanart@rpgamer!!! I am going nuts here, trying to keep my filters/mailboxes straight, it would really help if I didn't have to keep shifting boxes and moving about...oh, and also! LOOK AT THE SUBMISSION GUIDELINES!! They're in the menu bar to the right, entitleed "submit your fanart" as well as posted on the Fanart Main Page, both of which you should be looking at anyway ^_^;;; Ok. I'm done yelling ^_^;;; (dunks her her head in cold water)

  • Ask Lore: I once again yearn to talk with ye folks who visit RPGamer! My Lifestream e-mail is free for conversational chat that is not too prying, rude, or...you get the drift. Have a burning question? An unanswered prayer? Maybe the desire for one of my famous chocolate cookies? Answers, recipes, and prozac can be obtained at this e-mail address.

  • A Word on Today's Fanart: LOTS.

Yuffie Kisaragi of Final Fantasy VII
    " Evil Yuffie... "
    Artwork by Stephanie Louraine

Comments: I um... drew it on paper, scanned it and colored it in the ever-so-wonderful MSPaint. ^_^; I was going for a "manga-like" picture.. how'd I do?

Phoebe of Final Fantasy Mystic Quest
    " Phoebe "
    Artwork by Landale

Comments: I hardly see any ffmq fanart«s out there (nor original art) so I thought that I could do something about it...MQ is not a favourite game of mine but it«s kinda funny in a way (I hate the battle system and the world map). I chosed Phoebe cuz she has the prettiest clothing and hair ^.^ Ta~dah!

Rinoa and Quistis of Final Fantasy VIII
    " Together "
    Artwork by Becky

Comments: I dedicate this picture to all the guys who ever said they wanted Rinoa and Quistis at the same time...Warning: "R" Rated Picture. Contains extreme suggestive themes and nudity. Due to large demand and controversy, I am NOT offering the uncensored version any longer.

    Kid of Chrono Cross
    " Kid "
    Artwork by Kyla Sturgeon

Comments: After getting greatly into Chrono Cross and wanting more and more, I decided to draw a pic of Kid. Nothing fancy, just hope you like it!

    Fei Fong Wong of Xenogears

    Comments: Err, I think his nose is too long ^^;;;

Squall, Cloud, Sephiroth of Final Fantasy VII, VIII
    " Squaresoft Sandlot "
    Artwork by Joyce Cheuk

Comments: Used a lot of color pencils on this one. That's mainly the only thing I have. (I'm very clumsy with markers *_*) Scanned and resized on photoshop. I was just thinking of drawing a picture with yet another young Cloud, and decided it would be fun to have Squall and Sephy along. Wanted to draw in Laguna as the "coach" of the team as well, but realized at the end that the height difference is too tremendous to fit him in there like a good team picture. Yes, I realize since Squall is younger than Cloud that HE should be shorter... but... well... WHAT'S THAT UP IN THE SKY?! :::makes a quick get away::::

Rufus and Dark Nation of Final Fantasy VI
    " After Hours "
    Artwork by Alia

Comments: Rufus is so much fun to draw. I always imagined that he and Dark Nation would often just have fun together at the end of a long day. (Yes, I am aware that in the game D.N.'s tail is more of a tentacle. ^_^) Again, I took a character and put him in a setting that is totally seperate from the game. Original piece done in pen; colors in MSPaint; background in Photoshop. Yay bright colors!

Sabin Figaro of Final Fantasy VI
    " Bum Rush "
    Artwork by Erik Novak

Comments: I always found Sabin to be one of the more comical characters, and was an instant favorite of mine with his blitz attacks. So, I gave him quite a comical pose, super deformed. This shot takes place right before he performs the Bum Rush, explaining the multiple Sabins. I pulled the background from a screenshot and altered it a bit...it gives the pic a sense of "straight from the game." I wasn't too sure of this pic when I started, but I'm quite pleased with the results!

    Edea of Final Fantasy VIII
    " Edea "
    Artwork by Kellilla

    Comments: Drawn in computer class, CGed in Photoshop ^^ It was very much inspired by Mucha, the design and all. Her headgear was a pain x_x; After I shrunk it you can hardly tell there's much of anything up there ^^;;

    Kefka of Final Fantasy VI
    " Darkness of Kefka "
    Artwork by Gemini

Comments: This is my first submission to RPGamer although I've been a fan of the fanart for years (Yes, even when the page was "The Unofficial Square Homepage" and was posted on Dragonfire). ^_^ I don't know why I chose to do Kefka but in all of Amano's work, Kefka was the only one I could draw that I felt stayed close to the original. And of course it had to be FF6 since that's my favourite Square game. The picture took me about a day to draw and another day to color it in PhotoShop (another first for me). Sorry about the standard Lens Flare but I hope you all like it anyway!

Edgar, Locke, and Celes of Final Fantasy VI
    " Bum Rush? "
    Artwork by Annie Felis

Comments: Y'know the warning about some games causing epilepsy? I believe that FF6 and its move "Bum Rush" is one of them. After playing the game recently and getting woozy from watching this Blitz attack, I decided to draw the reactions of the three other people that are generally in my party (which are Locke, Celes and Edgar). Locke's reaction is pretty much my initial reaction to watching Bum Rush, Celes looks like she's about to tip over, and Edgar....well...Edgar looks like he watched too much Pokemon. Maybe these three will be like me in the future, and simply not watch Sabin when he does Bum Rush. ^_^

    Virginia Knights of Saga Frontier
    " Virginia Knights "
    Artwork by Sakana

Comments: She's looks cold....aren't she? Cos of the shadow effects behind. I found that i really like this green hair girl!

Cloud, Tifa of Final Fantasy VII
    " Mount Nibel "
    Artwork by Meriko

Comments: This is a pen & color pencil of Cloud and Tifa's brief reunion in the Mt. Nibel reactor, during the fire in Nibelheim. Drawn in response to a request, this is my first attempt at anything resembling a background. Yes, I know...pathetic. For those of you wondering, those pod-things are the mako chambers Hojo used to create monsters. Ah well...improvement is my goal, not perfection.

    Schala of Chrono Trigger
    " Schala of Zeal "
    Artwork by Dee

Comments: This is my first ever CT character. After hours and hours of work (by me and my sister Maria) in Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro, this is the result. Well, I like it. Schala, sad looking as always. She's standing in the room where the Mammon Machine was in Zeal. Look at the background. It's actually modified from a screenshot...

Alex and Luna of Lunar: Silver Star Story
    " Cuddle "
    Artwork by Wulfmune

Comments: i was looking back through an old sketch book and saw a crummy pic of lunar i did a couple months ago and thought, hmm i wonder if i could do better this time? the sketch was lying around untouched for another couple of months and i finally colored it. prismacolor markers with a little water color in the back round. the paper got kind of warped from the water....

Quistis Trepe of Final Fantasy VIII
    " Quistis at Teatime "
    Artwork by Kiraya

Comments: Recently, I've began to CG my doodles and pics. Well, here's a pic of Quistis Trepe from the great FFVIII which I finished a few days ago. I have this certain obsession for drawings characters with tea or coffee. Everything went smoothly when I drew this and I'm quite proud of this one.

Raziel of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
    " Bad Memories "
    Artwork by Megan

Comments: Well this is my first piece aimed at CG'ing a more realistic person, but still with the video game character look:) I know that Raziel is rather on the white side, but I wanted to be unique when doing this one! His expression is aimed to show (like the title of the work) him thinking of all the bad memories fromt hat past(such as what happened in the intro of the game) It was done completely on the computer, no scanning done, and by using a mouse>_< Total time was around 6 hours, and I must say I am very pleased:) I also owe Dave Cassel a big thanks for helping me in getting the armor done.

    Sephiroth of Final Fantasy VII
    " Sephy Christ "
    Artwork by Sarah Braun

Comments: I have some very lovely sephiroth fan art , I really have'nt felt like doing ff8 (was rather boring to me) so here is my rendition of sephiroth as the christ(far too much time on my hands). I did this with just a crappy art dabbler program, believe me you would think it' s crappy if you had to use it too.

    Tukuyomi of Chrono Cross
    " Krusty "
    Artwork by Evil Tiger

Comments: Krusty is just a silly name I gave her because her real name (Tukuyomi) did not fit in the name box... and I kind of like 'Krusty' better. ^_^ Tukuyomi is one of my favorite characters in CC because she's just so adorable... she uses bells as her weapon! I was sort of experimenting with a new style in this CG, and I think it turned out alright! XD

    Reina/Lenna of Final Fantasy V
    " Essence of Water "
    Artwork by "Celes-Dawn" Emplit

Comments: This picture was a bit of an inspired piece for me. In the middle of the night, I just had an urge to draw Reina, and so I spent many hours working on it. It was done entirely on Photoshop 5.0 LE, with a graphics tablet, among my first pieces using this medium. WHy her? Why now? I don't know. I started drawing and the face that came out of it was hers. That's about all.

    Toran Castle of Suikoden
    " Toran "
    Artwork by Ephidrina

Comments: This picture was done in about two hours plus tweaking time entirely in Bryce 4 with minor touches in Photoshop(don't look for them, they're that small). This picture marks my first venture of trying to re-create a scene, rather than the random pictures from scratch I normally do. Personally, I think this picture is mediocre at best, but those who have seen it, say I did a good job. The reason I chose Toran Lake Castle is because Bryce is really good at creating natural rock formations, and you don't see many RPG "locales" in the Fan Art section.

    Valvalis of Final Fantasy IV
    " Gale "
    Artwork by Kaitlin Kubilius

Comments: I hadn't originally intended this drawing to be of Valvalis, but it began to look more and more like how I would expect her to look, and I realized I hadn't drawn the wind fiend in a long while, not for over a year. This piece has inspired me to do a few more pieces of the same character.
