  Art and Lore - 07/07/00

  Gah! *cringe*
  Link of the week
Current Art Project

Note: Since the random link every week wasn't working out, I've decided to make this a sort of personal column like all the other RPGamer Interaction sections do!

Currently working on: Heee...Put the kids to bed and lock the doors, because Lore's drawing some naughty (but light) shonen ai...!!! Thanks to Becky from Estrigious for sending me and the RPGamer Fanart Gallery lots of...motivation... *giggle*

  • HOIIIII

Hoiya!!! Yes. Yes I KNOW. I'm very, very late. I'm sorries. As punishment I'll go through my Anime Expo photographs and upload the very ugliest picture of me I have. Okei? I'm weeeeally sorry XD. On the bright side, I went to my first con, had an absolute blast, met Amber Michelle from RPGamer Fan Fiction, and hung out with a lot of artists who submitted their artwork to RPGamer - and even some RPGamer visitors who recognized me =D =D!!!!

So it appears I'm also going ot be going to Otakon~! So once again I begin coordinating meetings!!! All those on the east coast who complained that there were no chances of meeting because the con was on the west coast...may all proceed to eat their own socks! =) Or you can just gimme a holler and we can meet at Otakon!

I think i'll be cosplaying again, this time as any of the following: Rinoa, Raine, Ellone, or Julia Heartilly ^_^ This ought to be fun...and since I'm con-experienced now...maybe I'll do this RIGHT...

If you don't know this by now...

  • When you send fanart in, press the "ok" button, and THEN discover that you made a boo-boo, don't panic!!! Simply send the ENTIRE submission again, all information and attachment included, and re-send right away. Don't send an e-mail with only an attachment and a short "sorry" message, that won't help me because now your fanart submission is floating around in multiple e-mails and is easily lost. I don't mind multiple e-mails as much as fragmented e-mails.

  • Be sure to remember to visit the The Art Corner & its IRC channel, #artcorner, on Espernet! I decided not to limit it to only talk regarding stuff from The Art Corner (www.artcorner.org) - we can talk about fanart and postings here too if you want. Just keep it decent, civilized, and remember that the REFFs (ops) are still in charge.

  • Again, PLEASE read up on the Submission Guidelines before submitting artwork! I've had shy, nervous first-time submitters send in absolutely gorgeous, complete submissions. So you can do it too, you veteran you!

Comments: Good character design. Too many puzzles in the game, I got bored.

    Aya Brea of Parasite Eve
    " Cityscape "
    Artwork by ciab

Comments: Been awhile since I last drew a fan art picture, especially CGing one for web-viewing, so my skills are a bit rusty and it shows... ^^; But this came out pretty well I think, and I was able to do it in about two days. For some odd reason I got this strange desire to draw Aya one day, and the thought of putting tiles of a cityscape in the background came with it. Even though I have yet to play the game, I still love drawing Aya. I guess it's the type of expressions that you can get with her are sometimes fun to draw.

Alucard of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
    " Double Jump "
    Artwork by Annie Felis

Comments: This was done as a request pic, and I just want to thank the girl who asked me to do it, since I had a lot of fun with it. I always thought the way Al's cloak turned into angel wings when he did the double-jump was pretty cool. And look....he's wearing the Leapstone! As for the blue wiggly background....those are sort of like the "action lines" that Charles Shultz always put in Peanuts cartoons....but made more pretty. I guess I wanted to signify he was jumping. :Þ

Justin, Sue and Feena of Grandia
" Justin, Sue and Feena "

    Sephiroth of Final Fantasy VII
    " Mako Reactor "
    Artwork by Tana

Comments: Well, I haven't posted anything to rpgamer in awhile, and I've been looking at all the great stuff everyone else has posted, so I got in the mood to draw some rpg stuff again. And since I like long hair, who better to draw that Sephiroth. The background took some deciding, but finally I decided on the inside of a mako reactor. Well, Hope you like it!

Black Mage Penguin Cosplay from Final Fantasy Tactics
" The Sacred Penguin Mage "
    Artwork by Jolene Lau

Comments: Seeing as how my drawing skills don't go beyond stick figures, I figure that this will be the only time I'll submit anything to the fanart dept. (unless I make other penguin costumes, of course). ^.^ Er...this costume was made using the mother's ancient sewing machine. I tried taking pictures of it, but they came out either blurry or too small, so I just scanned the penguin. Pardon the cheesy background (that has no relevance to the topic at all), it was all I could dig up.

    Rydia of Final Fantasy IV
    " Mother's Wings "
    Artwork by Celes-Dawn

Comments: People have asked me over and over why Rydia has wings in this pic. I thought it over for a bit, until I came to the conclusion that she has wings because they symbolize a connection to her mother, the summoner of the mist dragon. The main impetus behind this picture (Background done on POV-ray, the rest on Photoshop) was a strong desire to draw Rydia, my favorite FF4 character, along with a tendancy of late to draw things of a draconic nature. The result is seen here. I believe that I captured the youth, the stubbornness, and the sorrow in it quite well, which surprised me.

Vincent and Lucrecia of Final Fantasy VII
    " Memory "
    Artwork by Meriko

Comments: This is an altered version of a fanart I did for a fanfic I'm co-writing with my friend, Teri. Vincent and Lucrecia, in a brief moment of passion before it all goes bad. (Teri and I don't let anyone out of our fanfics without a great deal of suffering... ^^;;; ) The words aren't from the fic...I just made them up and stuck them there because...I felt like it. This is the..."on-the-floor-in-the-moonlight" version. The original "up-against-the-confessional-wall-during-daytime" version can be seen here.
