Link of the week The Palace of Solomon Methinks that if you're a Falcom fan, you've heard of this site before. =P And I dunno about everyone else but I consider this place THE Mecca for all things Ys. Sure, it lacks the billions of Ys mp3s & ROMs, but it holds its own with its wealth of information (which covers more than just the Ys series), interesting freetalks, and frequent translated updates for Falcom goods and for the upcoming Ys II Eternal. +D BTW, on a semi-related note (esp. to those that denied this or have argued against me on this): It's written as DALK FUKT in Ys Eternal. Welcome to the themed edition of Art and Lore! ^_^ What's the theme? 'Tis "No FFVI, VII, VIII, Xenogears, or Suikoden fan art". =P Why this theme? It's because I've noticed that, on just about every update, there has been fan art from these games. =| I thought that we could use a break from them and let other games get their 15 minutes of fame for once. ^-^ Thing is, I made the mistake of including the Suikoden series in the "ban", not realizing that there is actually a draught of fan drawn works for it here on RPGamer. Â_Â;;;;;; Sorry about that. -.-; At any rate, 'twas to be expected -- roughly half the submissions received were of the temporarily blacklisted titles. =P (And, heh, some people also mistakened the themed request as no Square fan art. ^.^;;) Well, these are, for the most part, being saved for the following update. ^_^ So, indeed, if you submitted artwork for any of the aforementioned games, fear not! Your work may still find its place on this very page next week. ^____^ Now, as for the artists that took on the "challenge", I thank ye since you made this week's showcase quite a diversified one. ^________^ And since this whole themed request went off without a hitch (as in, there were no protests), what should the next theme be, hmmmmmmmmmmmm? My thoughts go to "A name used as a title is good but a creative/illustrative/descriptive title is even better". +P I certainly have nothing against using a name since I know the agony of getting the mind to churn out some good titles, but it's just that methinks this is my record week where nearly half the submissions posted were like this. ^^ Er, BTW, next update ISN'T themed at all. =P The above was just a little something I was considering. ^^ Maybe we'll do themes again another day. =D And The Flavour of the Week is ... Now THIS is the epitome of a fan art magazine/gallery. +D It's a 'zine jam-packed with mounds of gorgeous fan AND original art (both colour and black and white), doujinshi features, doujinshi listings, pen-pal listings, and other wonderful stuff. Unfortunately, Fanroad is a Japanese publication and I have not, for the life of me, seen it sold anywhere around in my area (which isn't a surprise considering the only Japanese stores around here are grocery stores ....) or even at the time I went to Asahiya in Chicago. >_____<;; I only managed to obtain 2 copies of Fanroad thanks to a friend of mine. ^____^ Nargh, we need a magazine like this on this side of the world. =D Heheheh. Fanroad was more or less the inspiration for this week's themed update as the magazine tends to do themed issues. ^_^ The cover I scanned was indeed from one that had loads of gaming fan art. ^^ Hum ... I wonder if this mag still being published? =/ Scan of a Fanroad page (279K -- sorry about the size and quality ><;). This is just an example of the cool art they print. ^-^ Some Dots for Your Thoughts For those that do not know yet (after almost a month >P): Submitting your fan art to Lorelai will result in a horrendously bloody DEATH Well, okei, maybe not but you'd just be inconveniencing her and all. =/ So don't submit stuff to her until she comes back. >P All works are to be temporarily submitted to kouryuu@chickmail.com. And PLEASE remember to refer to everything listed from the fan art policy onward when submitting your work~! Some people still aren't following the guidelines and we frown upon that. =/ Psst~! Thanks. ^-^ About the sig: The evil "mweeheehee" laugh is a carry over from Bilan's Kefka pic seen on the last week's sig. =P Kou wants to weird you out: First off, I have my SPECIAL rendition of Final Fantasy VIII's Eyes On Me (2.5MB). XD Note that the only "filter" used was the reverb filter so the voice you hear is indeed mine. +D Heee~, I want to do voice acting one day with that voice. ^.^; (Tip: turn up volume & treble ^^). Secondly, I was just a wee bit bored and made a screencap of my WinAmp play list (173K) which HAS NOT changed for about 4 months. (Well, okei, so I add tunes every now and then but other than that ... ^^) My music taste is actually much more diverse than this. Heh. ^^ Er, PLEASE don't ask me where I got the skin from since I got it off a friend at school via sneaker net. ^^;
