A steamrolled Pikachu?
|
 |
|
Welcome

Hello and Welcome! Glad you could join us today for Fan Artwork. I just took a sneak peek at RPGamer's hit stats about 5 minutes ago..and let me tell you, we get a pretty darn cool percentage of hits out of RPGamer's total! GO US!!! Wooooo!!! (Lorelai does a little dance)
The Latest from Lorelai

Well well, it turns out that Prozac (the company / medicine) has objected to our using their name in our title, Prozac Cookies. Whew, so glad I asked them; didn't want to get my sorry seat sued....So, I frantically conducted a poll this past week, and we have voted on a new title for our site: The Art Corner. Pretty cool ne? We have our own server and domain name now, www.artcorner.org
Hey...Off the topic, what does that smiley over there look like??? (this one: ^_____^) a CERTAIN staff member *poke MIKE poke* has been calling it a steamrolled pikachu everytime I use it. Blarg. Poor Pikachu. ::plots revenge::
With this new name change, everything is changing. All subscribers to the Prozac Cookie mailing list have been transferred to the Art Corner Mailing List automatically; if you are interested in subscribing (the newsletter keeps you up on updates and such) then e-mail artcorner-subscribe@topica.com to be automatically added to the list! If you're interested in being an artist critiquer for The Art Corner, feel free to apply! A HUGE warm thanks go to Michael Creque and Aaron Malone for generously contributing their own money to help The Art Corner prosper! Also thanks to Mike Tidwell for contributing server space for us, among a heap of other favors....Lorelai owes you all big time! *HuGgLe*
Ask Lore

Do you like working with predefined characters (from RPGs,
anime, etc) or do you prefer the freeform imagery from original
concepts that you thought up?
Lorelai: There's no preference. Freeform drawing and Fan Artwork are two different categories. One feeds off the pre-determined characters of a game/movie etc. that you admire and would like to illustrate among the emotional events that the plotline details. The other requires you to create both the character and plotline in order to make the picture make sense. It really depends on what mood I'm in. (aka, Am I thinking about Billy Lee Black? or am I thinking about my original character/story? ^_^)
A Cookie for your Thoughts

Newsletter: Thanks to the help of so many people, the opening of Prozac Cookies hovers on the near horizon! (ok, that made no sense) Anyway, if you're interested in subcribing to Prozac Cookies: the newsletter, which will be for updates and whatever use pops up for it in the future, then send an e-mail here. I use topica.com for my newsletters and I *think* they'll do the trick (still in testing phase). If you already subscribed via my RPGamer e-mail, you're on the list already, don't worry.
Ask Lore: Like always, I'm opening up my Lifestream e-mail to personal questions, whether it be related to RPGamer, my other jobs, my goals, nigel, my school, or my pet dog Bobby. Anything that's not inappropriate or too private. Go ahead, Ask Lore. ^_^ I usually answer by e-mail nowadays instead of posting my answer on this site, but you can still get to know me!
Art on IRC: come to esper.net and join #artcorner, the official channel for The Art Corner! I just registered it, so I welcome you to join. If you're a staffer (aka a critiquer) please be sure to drop by, I need to op you in the channel ^_^;;;

Ryu of Breath of Fire II
" God and his Children"
Artwork by Landale
Comments: If I had more patiant I«d probaly would have drawn
a nice background..I had this idea of putting some houses in the background,
with alot of snow, and some lonely lights. BUT no...I created a black
night with snow silently falling down instead. I like snow and black
BGs^^ BoF 2 is a VERY deep game and is very much based on religion.
That«s where I«ve got the idea of the Poem from. Ryu«s young at this
picture and it«s during the time Ryu and Bob lived as homeless street
kids..something we never heard about in the game..or not much anyway.

Claude Kenni from Star Ocean II
" Victory! "
Artwork by Nutz
Comments: I really like Claude Kenni of Star Ocean 2, and the
game is one of my current favorites too. This fanart took me one day
to finish, and was mainly colored using watercolor and ink. I tried
to draw Claude in his winning pose, with all splendor (plus a lot of
fancy lighting using Adobe Photoshop). Be advised folks, I just made
up the sword's design, so don't wonder if it's part of Star Ocean ^_^

Cloud (or) Zack and Sephiroth of Final Fantasy
VII
" Death of a Soldier "
Artwork by Arion McBride
Comments: I started this one as just a deep drawing. when i
finished it it had turned out darker than intended but i still feel
i captured everything i was going for. i am not going to tell you the
symbolisms behind this, all i will say is this - i didnt mean cloud
or zack whichever you think it is, to be physicly dead (though in zacks
case its true) but rather the death aspect to be symbolic rather than
taken at face value, whatever other symbolisms you see in the drawing
i will leave to you as it is more interesting that way ^_^ be warned
its a lil graphic but everyone thats seen it agree it's good. *may be too intense for sensitive audiences*

Main Character of Grandia
" Heroine "
Artwork by Wulfmune
Comments: main character girl from grandia. don't know much
about the game yet but i'm really looking forward to it's release. couldn't
help myself from drawing her, her design is soo cute!

Billy Lee Black of Xenogears
" Heaven's Gate"
Artwork by Min Kwon (Keiiii)
Comments: I really, really don't like how I drew his face.
There are good things in this picture, but the stupid way I drew his
face really kills the entire pic. I could go on how much I hate about
it and make a 5MB text file, but that wouldn't be nice, so I'll talk
about the things I like about this. #1 - his hair. It looks silky, and
it actually looks like he has volumes of hair, not layers of hair. ^^
It was pretty easy to do with tablet in Painter. #2 - the background.
I actually drew it in Painter. I usually paste some photograph for background
or use really cheap Photoshop filters, but not this time. I feel proud
of myself. ^-^;

Leon of Tales of Destiny
" A Tale of Destiny"
Artwork by Becky (formerly Hydrachild)
Comments: I love Leon although this picture doesn't quite depict
that feeling. I didn't intend for this picture to be upsidedown, I drew
the face, then turned the picture over because I couldn't fit a body.
Then I called it art. *moderate suggested violence*

Meia of Alundra
" Oh Baby, Oh Baby "
Artwork by Becky (formerly Hydrachild)
Comments: This pic was commissioned by someone off the internet
(you know who you are). It's a little silly; I didn't like the way her
legs came out, in retrospect they're all funny-shaped. I do like the
colors, though. I have a tendency to make very muddy colors so when
I came out with the brighter background reds and stuff it made me happy.
Now I can go back to being muddy (cause its easier) *moderate/high
suggestive theme*

Miang Hawwa of Xenogears
" Beckoning Ramsus "
Artwork by Amber Michelle
Comments: Argh!!! The scanner has betrayed me AGAIN! ^^;;;
I spent extra time on nice shading, and what does it do? It.... loses
it....... **sniffle** But anyway, if you're wondering...... this picture
was inspired by the concept of Lunar's bromides, among other things
(and I won't mention them here. ^^). There are a couple of optical illusions
in this piece, but I assure you they're not real -- I drew the figure
first, then everything over it, so I know it's perfectly right. And
believe it or not...... I even like this picture. Go figure. ^_~
*low
suggestive theme*

Cloud and Tifa of Final Fantasy VII
" Midnight Moment "
Artwork by Meriko
Comments: These two are ink & color pencil
pictures (as my pics always are.) Midnight Moment was a request (yes,
I do requests!) from a fan (ooh, I have fans!) and Moonlight Kiss was
pure midnight to 4am inspiration! *yawn* I'm extremely happy with my
moonlight/starry sky/silhouette in "Kiss." It makes it a very private
moment, yes? with just the moonlight beaming down around them. *sentimental
sniff* My apologies to all those die-hard Aeris & Cloud fans. :) *Low suggestive themes*

Nina of Breath of Fire II
" Nina "
Artwork by Wulfmune
Comments: i always liked the designs of this series alot but
i thought this was one of the cutest versions of nina. she looked almost
like a sprite or fairy.

Locke, Terra, and Celes of Final Fantasy
VI
" Phoenix Knights "
Artwork by Landale
Comments: Well, I HOPE that you can see WHO the people in this
piccy is but if not...It«s Tina, Lock and Celes. Nothing sayz that these
are my fav FF6 charas..cuz that place is taken by Shadow^^ The IDEA
of this pic is really nothing big, I just wanted to give them alil more
ARMOR! And here they look a little more royal...I like drawing details
though^^ The name of the pic itself comes from the beast/esper/they-have-many-names-you-know
Phoenix...she who guards Life. I really don«t know what to say...Um,
i like the coloring?

Porom of Mysidia of Final Fantasy IV
" Mystic Child "
Artwork by Arion McBride
Comments: Well I was saying i was going to do Porom with my
Palom drawing for awhile an then i got offtrack. the first attempt got
messed up so i redid it. i put her in the same background as Palom,
it seemed fitting that way. gotten a lil better since i did Palom im
slowly getting comfortable with photoshop. i messed up on a few things
but overall im pleased. at any rate, she is beautiful eh. now that im
done her im gonna venture towards some other rpg's an let ff6 alone
for a bit. thanks go to shard for pushing me to commplete it. (YOU MAH
GROUPY SHARD!) ahem anyways i hope you all like it.

Ramza Beoulve of Final Fantasy Tactics
" Blame "
Artwork by Becky (formerly Hydrachild)
Comments: I got the idea for this by watching the intro. I
was inspired by the illustrative quality of the designs, although I
wasn't partial to the style.

Rinoa Heartilly and Angelo of Final Fantasy
VIII
" Rinoa and Angelo "
Artwork by Sandara-3
Comments: i'm back again! found that i just couldn't stay away
from RPGamer... so... how do you find FF8? good? bad? ^__^ this is Rinoa
and her dog, Angelo... isn't her dog cute?

Squall Leonhart of Final Fantasy VIII
" Squall in Charcoal "
Artwork by Nutz
Comments: I've been trying fan art using different mediums,
and now I've made an attempt at charcoal. It went out pretty well for
a first time (though I know I still have to practice). Anyway, Squall
is sure an exceptional character in the FF8 world, and his face always
leaves me in a trance (whoa, handsome!). I just hope I gave his perfect
face enough justice in this piece of art. Pardon the chain, I was so
burnt out I didn't put any detail in it.

Tempest of Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete
" Tempest "
Artwork by Wulfmune
Comments: one of my favorite male characters in lunar. i like
his manly attitude, and let's face it, he's got a cool name on top of
it! i haven't seen much fanart of this guy so i thought i'd better remedy
that in case there's any other tempest fans out there.
