It's Rinoa's Show!

Welcome

Hello and Welcome, my eager Prozac Cookie Followers! Well, as you may have guessed from the title today...Rinoa has taken the fanart column by storm. I can make an educated guess about who the current most-loved female heroine is riiiight about now....but enough with the blabber, it's good art, and we're all happy.
The Latest from Lorelai

Come to esper.net and join #prozaccookies, the official channel for Prozac Cookies! I just registered it, so I welcome you to join. I might not always be there, but I do intend #prozaccookies to be a nice place to chat about artwork, art advice, critiques, etc. Being the shrew that I am, I will probly keep strict order in the channel, so don't cause trouble ^_^;;; (possible servers: weyr.esper.net, chocobo.esper.net, irc.rpgamer.com, adastra.esper.net)
Wow, I'm very happy that so many people are interested in Prozac Cookies (the newsletter and website, not the actual, ah, cookie) and I'm so sorry that not everyone can be a panelist, but I will be accepting a whole lot of volunteers! Here is an UPDATED list (by no means complete) of the people I've accepted (after several rounds of consideration) and who've sent me all the information I needed about them (not all accepted artists have yet). Again, the list is not complete, and nothing is written in stone. Feel free to apply!

Ask Lore
As an artist, do you pull sounds, shapes, colors, etc from things in
your daily life, do they have a conscious effect on your work? Or do
you wrap yourself in a shell when you work, so that while there may be
external elements that have a subconscious effect on your work,
primarily it is the product of an internal focus? And when I say that
I mean in application to working with either predefined or original
subjects.
Lorelai: Oh, CONSTANTLY. I don't see how I'd ever get so many art ideas if it weren't for the real world. For example, I watched What Dreams May Come yesterday with my family and from that movie I was inspired to do an upcoming piece of fanart. There are wonderful ideas waiting to inspire the creative mind in this world, and if I were to wrap myself in a shell I'd stay in a state of eternal artist's-block; and that's bad. There are sometimes, however, that I have an emotion I want to illustrate. But I can't avoid the physical; for example...My the one i care about fanart series all come from emotions, but they're inspired also by an external force: RPG's.
A Cookie for your Thoughts

Newsletter: Thanks to the help of so many people, the opening of Prozac Cookies hovers on the near horizon! (ok, that made no sense) Anyway, if you're interested in subcribing to Prozac Cookies: the newsletter, which will be for updates and whatever use pops up for it in the future, then send an e-mail here. I use topica.com for my newsletters and I *think* they'll do the trick (still in testing phase). If you already subscribed via my RPGamer e-mail, you're on the list already, don't worry.
Ask Lore: Like always, I'm opening up my Lifestream e-mail to personal questions, whether it be related to RPGamer, my other jobs, my goals, nigel, my school, or my pet dog Bobby. Anything that's not inappropriate or too private. Go ahead, Ask Lore. ^_^ I usually answer by e-mail nowadays instead of posting my answer on this site, but you can still get to know me!
A Decision Made: PRozac Cookies is getting its own domain name AND hosting space, thanks to the generous, wonderful, head geek honcho of RPGamer, Mike Tidwell ^_^ and that's NOT ALL!!! I've also received several offers of donations and web hosting for Prozac Cookies! Thank you ALL!!! I will be counting on you in the future to help keep Prozac Cookies alive and well!

Ashley of Wild Arms II
" Wild Wild West "
Artwork by Katsura (Artist of the Week)
Comments: This is the first cell style CG I ever did, so I
'm struggling with the technique ^_^. I've used some techniques of airbrush,
hope you like it! I just started playing WA2, and the beautiful music
brings me instantly to the oldwest setting, I was so impreesed by the
game I decided to do a fan art for it - looks like this is the first
WA2 fan art on the site. Ashley is a cool character, and I designed
the double barreled gun especially for him - it's a bit different from
the weapon he used in game, but because I started drawing this pic before
seeing his weapon, I have to improvise ^_^. The Media is pencil with

Squall Leonhart and Rinoa Heartilly from Final
Fantasy VIII
" Together Forever...I Promise. "
Artwork by Maggie Bradshaw
Comments: Here is another little CG pic I've been wroking on
for a while. This contains Squall and Rinoa from final fantasy 8! its just a simple picture of squall and rinoa sitting by a lake created by terragen, and the characters were
colored with photoshop 5. enjoy! ^_^

Alys of Phantasy Star IV
" Tragic Heroine "
Artwork by Blademoor
Comments: Another pic in my Phantasy Star 4 fan art collection.
It is really an underappreciated game, so I thought I'd bring some attention
to it. This is (spoiler alert) of the tragic heroine Alys, who could
almost be a precursor to Aeris's scenario. Anyways, I hope this picture
captures her zest for living (almost)... but then, it's been a while
since I've played the game... ^_~

Cloud Strife of Final Fantasy VII
" Cloud "
Artwork by Elaine Fair
Comments: I had to draw Cloud! He was such a fun hero! Of course,
I love any character who's mentally unstable and occasionally crossdresses.
This was a fun piece to color, especially his hair. I'm also satisfied
with the tough-boy look on his face! ^_~

Rinoa and Squall of Final Fantasy VIII
" Untitled Work "
Artwork by ShadowStrider
Comments: Hello, my name is ShadowStrider and i would like
to submit my fan art. it is a variation on the Final Fantasy VIII Logo,
with Rinoa and Squall. Sorry if the file is bordering on the size limit....thank
you.

Flammie of Secret of Mana
" Flammie "
Artwork by Arkyven
Comments: What can I say? Animals are my speciality. Flammie
was incredibaly fun to draw for two reasons; one: he's sooo cute! two:
the pictures they showed on the game were so vague that I could used
my artistic liscense to my heart's content. I had a little trouble with
his tail, but it turned out alright. This picture is (as most of my
works are) done in pencil and watercolor.

Princess Rei of Saga Frontier
" The Hunted "
Artwork by Meriko
Comments: This is an ink & color pencil of Lord Orlouge's lost
arch-princess. She seemed to be a very strong-willed character, despite
the cutesy hair and kimono-esque outfit, and so I wanted to depict her
as such. Crush that rose! Hahaha! :) Oh, and laugh all you want, but
my favorite part of this picture is her hand...I think it's the best
one I've drawn so far, and the rose came out nice and velvety-dark looking.

Rinoa Heartilly of Final FantasyVIII
" Rain "
Artwork by Laurie Rinoa Kim
Comments: hi everyone! well, it's my first submission as well
as my first serious try at using color pencils ... and to my surprise
i find i rather like the medium~ ^.^ (it's much more enjoyable than
coloring with my stupid mouse, that's for sure~ ^.^) the pic is of rinoa,
standing in the rain ... i admit, i hadn't thought much about art or
video games for a long while (during junior year of high skool ... ick!),
but one of my friends once kept insisting that i look kinda like 'that
girl from ffviii' !! i laughed and denied it, but i became more interested
in rinoa and ffviii. the pic is done by pencil, ink, and prismacolor
color pencils, and then i got lens flare-happy with photoshop 5 ^.^
hope u like~!!

Shadow of Final Fantasy VI
" Shadow "
Artwork by Laura
Comments: Yet another character from Final Fantasy 3 that I
have never drawn. I spent a good amount of time on detail in this drawing.
The background is a photograph that has been enlarged, altered and smoothed
out.

Fei and Elly of Xenogears
" Standstill "
Artwork by Nutz
Comments: Just got my own scanner and now I'm cooking up tons
of stuff with it. Here's one that's made in less than 3 hours... so
maybe the poor quality, but it still is pretty enough for me. It's mainly
done with colored pencils, but since my pencils are so crappy I still
had to do a few editing with Adobo photoshop.

Vincent Valentine of Final Fantasy VII
" Vincent "
Artwork by Elaine Fair
Comments: When the mood to draw FF7 guys overthrew my senses, I finally got around to doing the Vincent fanart I've always dreamed of. You know, with the
smouldering eyes and the bright, shining gun.
