Art and Lore - July 26th, 1999

- Lifestream - Young Wang Final Fantasy VII Young Wang says: I guess this is my first "non amateur" piece? Not sure.. but I did print out a copy and sell it at both Otakon and Anime Expo! I sold it at Otakon for 60 and at AX for 110. =} I'm happy. Once again, it's done in Corel Xara and it's all vector based.. Aerith has such pretty wings!

- Elly - Hanna Chen Xenogears Hanna Chen says: This is my first fanart of Elly... ^_^ It was done using pencil crayons... I had a lot of fun doing this piece, especially the hair because it was so easy... XD I wanted the pic to have some sort of connection with her past, so I drew her holding the cross of Nisan.

- Kid - Hanna Chen Chrono Cross Hanna Chen says: I know, Chrono Cross is not even out yet... but that doesn't mean I can't be a fan of it. I just simply love the character designs in this game, plus the music, and everything I've seen so far. ^_^ Can't wait till it comes out. This drawing was done using pencil crayons.

- Lovers or Rivals? - Satsuki Yatouji Wild ARMs Satsuki Yatouji says: Well, I'd been putting off submitting this picture of Wild ARMs' Harken and Jack for a long, long time after the bulk of it was finished, since I had yet to find that perfect background that just said "Filgaia" all over it. Finally my dear friend for whom this was commissioned let me browse her stock of screencaptures, and this is the result. I'm rather proud of how it turned out, although the shading is a little off in places. Oh, and it's standard Photoshop 4.0 coloring, over an ink-outline drawing. ^_^ Lorelai-sama, maybe you could give a quick reminder about how to reduce that annoying corruption that occurs on red when one does CG? I can never remember the easiest way, took me about 4 tries to get this one as good as it is. ^_^;

- Schala: The Light of Zeal - Arion McBride Chrono Trigger Arion McBride says: well i was thinking there was very few pictures of schala on the net, at least really really good ones, and i mean ive always been in love with schala, shes very mystical and beautiful, and her character had such lovely potential to work with. i chose to draw schala because in her timeleine she really was the hope and light of her kingdom, janus was cool, but he was jaded, her mother was like seniorae psychopath, and the gurus were lost, she was the only defender of light at the time from zeal. it was a complicated peice and it took a lot of time and i was exhausted when i was finally finished, but i gotta say, its the most incredible feeling in the world to create, and i loved working with a character from like my favorite game and that was naturally so beautiful that i could work with that to create more beauty, so like dude, lets do it ladies, expect to see more of me soon ^_^

- Cloud Strife - Abu Final Fantasy VII Abu says: To tell you the truth this is my first submitted fanart anywhere on the web. This piece was actually drawn a couple of months ago, but I've been reluctant to submit my work. Especially after I witnessed all the splendor of what is known only as artwork displayed at this site every week. Well anyway I drew this on paper, scanned it, and colored it in photoshop 5.0( you know the basics). Oh yeah, I know some details like the head and shoes are not exact but you see I'm an idiot who decided to draw from memory instead of finding references (DOH!).

- Locke Cole - Laura Final Fantasy VI Laura says: I've been hard at work practicing drawing the human form (well kinda). This picture started out as just a male figure that I decided to make into Locke about half way thru drawing it. The background is a small photo that I blew up and smoothed out. I also redid the sky and added those wispy looking clouds.

- Virgil the Ring Lord - Satsuki Yatouji Saga Frontier Satsuki Yatouji says: This pic actually has more purpose than most, I got the idea off of Bubbawheat's awesome page for obscure game fanfics. He actually has a listing of suggestions for fanart concepts submitted by himself and the writers... so here's Lord Virgil, bored in his mightiness and about to skoosh a poor lil' ant that has happened across his throne. ^_- It was done in Photoshop with the help of a screen capture, just like everything, directly from a pencil sketch.
