Wulfmune and Hydrachild come as a duo, and webpage as a duo too. Their artwork exemplifies both quantity and quality; hop over to their webpage for a melange of anime, manga, video games and fanart. As Hydrachild says, "We both take our art very seriously, sometimes spending days on one piece. Gratification is not always the finished product; instead it is what was learned through the process."

Welcome

First off: WHAT IS IT WITH MY PROZAC COOKIES? It's some kind of RPGamer widespread joke, isn't it? I've been missing something, haven't I? Lorelai does not like to miss things! What is it about me and prozac? Do I look like I need some? Gawrd darn it, the world hates me! I'm doomed! I'm depressed! Blaaaaarrrrg...(cough) (choke) (gasp) Mmmmmmm....cookies...

From The Heart

Well, I wanted to bring you guys that extra-cool thingy I had planned, but turns out it my surprise needs more work. I'll update you later this week about it. Anyway, I have a back-up surprise for you. Since I care a lot about you guys and want you to have the enjoyment of the best fanart section ever, I'm gonna give you something else new today: Lorelai's Inspirational Notes! Ever sit there with a blank piece of paper, and wonder what the heck to draw? Well, now you can check here for suggestions brought to you by fans! Who knows, maybe it'll get your mind ticking in the right direction.

Lorelai's Inspirational Notes

Thanks to MadnessPoe, a creative mastermind I bumped into via AIM, I am presenting "Lorelai's Inspirational Notes" from this week on. Every week there will be a possible subject for Fanart posted here, and perhaps it will "inspire you" to create some fanart! Today's Inspirational Note is:

Ever wonder what characters in RPG's looked like BEFORE we had brilliant FMV's and detailed sprites? For example, did Final Fantasy I white mages and knights have as little personality as they did pixels? Well, why not GIVE THEM LIFE? This week's Inspirational Note is to encourage you to go and find some RPG characters that were never brought to the artistic world well enough, due to early technology. (Whip out that old Atari system...eh, just kidding. Wonder if they had enough memory to make an RPG back then?)

Important Info Today!

I got this idea when I realized that all of my college professors have OFFICE HOURS...I will be making a regular schedule of making online appearances and being freely available to chat. You can go ahead and use Aol Instant Messenger (my name is Jenova 98) or you can ICQ me at 32105014. Hope to chat with you soon! And please be proper and responsible...I don't have rules about chatting yet and I hope I don't have to set them, or worse yet, terminate this idea altogether. ^_^ For now, my "office hours" will be most weekdays, at 7 PM Pacific Time. I will modify the hours as needed. And the good thing about ICQ is you can leave me messages, even if I'm not there!

Lorelai's Mailbox

currently, there are 8 fan artworks in my mailbox marked DEFINITELY POST and 15 fan artworks in my mailbox marked MAYBE POST. I plan to keep you updated about how many artworks I have in my mailbox from now on! Check the floating column to the right for the pink and red words.

-- W. Lorelai Wu
Where in the world did you guys pick up the erroneous idea that Thor and I were some kind of couple? I'm quite befuddled, and Nigel is quite mad. ^_^ Nah, it's ok...But whomever it was out there that called me a babe, uh, watch out for someone named Nigel, armed with a bazooka. Oh, and by the way, the name's Lorelai, not Lorelia. *hee*

Fan Artwork for February 23rd, 1999

Sigurd of Xenogears
An Open Invite
in unknown digital medium
Art by Aki

Well, the very name Aki should be fair warning enough that heavy-duty fanart is imminently near...still, this one took my breath away, even when I steeled myself by saying "this is Aki's fanart! Of COURSE it will blow me away!" But anyway...I still wasn't ready for this studmuffinized, this awesome, this totally SEXY (really!) portrait of Sigurd. I mean, gawd. How perfect does a man get? Love the bellybutton ring too. ^_^ You GO Aki! Woo hoo! Now just do Elly this way so the guys will be happy too.

Charmander and Ash of Pokémon
"Charmander, I choose You!"
in Ink and Photoshop
Art by Sandara-3

Pokémon are a very popular subject for fanart these days, but Sandara-3 is one of the few who really gives them life. Charmander's eyes are filled with that snapping, sparkling action well-suited for the fiery...uh, amphibian...? With extraordinary artistic skill, Sandara has whipped out the young and spunky Ash Ketchum (I think that's how you spell it) and a dark, powerful Charmander, captured perfectly in their Pokémon action. Action-packed and full of life.

Rydia of Mist in Final Fantasy IV
Portrait of a Caller as a Young Girl
in pencil and watercolor

Art by Shinryuu

A marvelous portrait of Final Fantasy IV's Child of Mist. I find the colorization of the picture most suitable and creative. Also, Shinryuu seems to have taken great pains to make this portrait true to the pixel-portrait of Rydia in the actual game; I find the resemblance accurate and well done. This corresponds perfectly to today's Inspirational Notes; Well done, Shinryuu! you read my mind! ^_^

"Princess Lion" in SaGa Frontier
My Princess Lion
poster paint

Art by Sakana

Woa! This picture alone makes me wish I played SaGa Frontier. Who is this mysterious amazon of a woman? Her eyes seem to bore into the viewer with no mercy, and her body is tense, ready to spring and take you down. Her aura radiates: Fear me. Yet, there is an attractiveness about her and her agile figure...she seems to warn you away, yet brings you closer with her seductive look. This confusion and demonstration of excellent artistic manipulation is brought to you courtesy of Sakana...(now, where's my prozac...?)

Lyonesse of Brigandine
a beautiful smile speaks louder than beautiful words
in unknown digital medium
Art by Wulfmune

Wulfmune is one of the talented webmasters under the pen name *Jiro-Chan* and also one of the recipients of the Artist of the Week award. (The other would be Hydrachild; visit their website for an awesome overdose of their artwork) Wulfmune and Hydrachild's latest craze seems to be Brigandine; not that I'm complaining - anything that inspires their awesome artwork is good for me! Wulfmune's figure portraits are characteristically soft, warm, and heartwarming. Lyonesse, for one, does not fail to meet her standards.

Faris and Lenna atop Hiryuu and Syldra
Dragon Ladies
in Ink and Photoshop
Art by Sandara-3

If you thought Sandara was only good at Pokémon fanart, guess again! Her numerous RPGamer postings (two in this update alone) and Artist of the Week award should prove that her artistic skill isn't limited by subject at all. Sandara does, however, have quite a penchant for Final Fantasy V, a choice as unique as herself. Here, we see the female warriors of Tycoon resting with some of the friendly, noble (I can't stress that enough) dragons in the game. Truly an emotional, beautiful, and colorful masterpiece.
